Default Dead 1.5" Full Metal Platinum

I have a new 1.5" FMP that all of the sudden started showing the hourglass symbol. The drive was not recognized, but instead I got a message about a ADFU device. I googled and found out my firmware is probably messed up. When I checked before I was on ACT9X.0.48, but none of the firmware listed makes my player boot up, just a blue screen. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Mate

Even I'm facing similar issues where an hour glass and a blue screen is all that I can see.

first off, flashing the firmware when something goes wrong should only be your last resort. You've probably made the situation worse by doing so.

From the info i've gathered, when an mp3/4 player shows up as an ADFU device in windows, it's in 'Update Mode' waiting to recieve a new firmware file. Maybe it's stuck in this 'mode' Did you do anything beforehand that caused it to bluescreen?.. maybe hit something in the settings to make it think you were going to update the firmware? There is a function in there to do so.
If not, i can say i've also noticed my FMP 1.5 go to a blue screen with an hourglass for no reason at all but i just leave it alone, let it go through the motions and after about 15 to 30 seconds it resets back to default. I've put that down to maybe a simple bug in the 9.0.48 firmware. On one occasion it didn't reset so i turned it off at the switch for a few minutes.

All i can suggest is keep looking for compatible firmware file.. hopefully an update of the fw extraction tool s1fwx will be released and compatible firmware will be available (i'll even send you a copy of mine when it is possible)
I reckon the factory should've included a full copy of the firmware for this device on the included mini cd.

I probably know I made things worse, but there have been no solutions to the hourglass of death. I've tried letting the battery go dead, powering on and off, etc. Nothing worked. What would you advise for the hourglass?

Here is what happened to make my player go dead:

I played the player till it ran out of batteries. It was running fine until then. I hooked it up to the computer's USB for recharging. When I got back to it, it just showed the hourglass. I searched the internet for solutions, but none were available aside from a firmware load.
