Glacier 99-file limit, problem accessing folders
Hi, I am surprised nobody's complaining about the 99-file per folder limit. I have a one-week old 2Gb Glacier and it's the main complaint I have about this player. Because of this, I can only put a maximum of 99-songs on shuffle (I like to shuffle between all 2Gb of mp3s if I can).
What makes matters worse is I can't access my other folders of mp3s. I tried to follow the instructions (press Menu, Local Folder, select the folder, choose song and press Play) but it doesn't play the song that I have selected. It simply returns to the Music screen with the previous song from the previous folder on track. Effectively, the Glacier becomes a 99-song player. Does anyone know how I can solve this? Does the low-level format thingy get rid of the 99-file limit? |
@weikell
I also didn't like it when I first read about it and I've complained in a post also, but there is nothing we can do... =( About not being able to play, try another button instead of "Press Play"... Try menu instead, I guess this is the right one, if not, try others... One will be your key... :P Good luck, Chiclete. |
Re: Glacier 99-file limit, problem accessing folders
no can do. tried all the buttons. The <<and>> scrolls between the songs, +,- does nothing, and both Play and Menu brings me back to the original song.
anybody has this problem too? |
This is odd...'cause for me, I just stick all my music into one folder (350 songs), and it'd detect it all. I can play random on all of them, unless I'm missing out on something?
BTW, the menu button is the one you're looking for when you want to select a song thru file browsing |
Re: Glacier 99-file limit, problem accessing folders
I've tried every single button available and it still doesn't work. Uxcell has asked me to send the unit back for a replacement.
With regards to the 99-file limit, Uxcell replied that it is due to the software being able to display a maximum of 99 songs. However, I did a low-level format and was able to stuff in all my songs and play them on shuffle. I certainly hope Uxcell will do something to improve the software (and the stock earphones!!!). To me, it's a simple task of tweaking the software. Although the problem can be solved by doing the low-level format, consumers should not need to do any modifications after receiving the player. Overall, (if Uxcell sends back a player that lets me select my songs) I think the Glacier is a good player for its price. The sound quality is good, video quality is good for its size, and it has a nice design to boot. Unlike some who posted problems of the FM player being used in Singapore, I have been able to get clear reception from the major stations without much noise or distortion. Have yet to try the eBook function though... |
The ebook function more or less just lets you read text files; it's functional, but it doesn't do text wrapping very well. It just cuts the words and displays the rest of it on the next line. Not too annoying to me, but for some it might be a major turn off. It's best if you keep the text short, maybe a chapter per file (or even less), as the screen can only display around 30-40 words per screen/page.
