Is Uxcell for mp3 players newbies?
The Glacier was recommended by my nephew as a cheap alternative to buying a player at local electronics store. After reading the posts, I'm reluctant to order from Uxcell as the players & the mfr. don't seem too reliable. I'm totally electronically challenged in this area and wonder if I would be better off getting a player locally. I doubt if I would even know if the Uxcell was even working correctly as it will take me a good while to figure it all out. Advice appreciated.....thanks.

UXcell is cheap, they are honest and everything but the quality of their players are 'half-good'. Action chipset player's seem to die very often. If you wan't a player with high quality then you should consider getting a Teclast t29 or a meizu M6. What I have heard, those player are soo good. And I haven't seen people having problems with them yet. I should get a Teclast t29 in a week, later when I get more money, I might order a Meizu M6 4GB. Everything from HouseOfDAP.com, you also get 1 year warranty, unlike uxcell, 30 days.
The player at HouseOfDap might seem to be kinda expensive but, you won't regret your buy. And your player will stay alive. ;) |
Well, personally I have a pretty good experience with Uxcell. My Glacier is still alive and kicking - even after all the abuse I've put through it. The battery problems seem to derive from charging it through the cheap charger that comes with it, so I've been charging through the USB. Plus, Uxcell's customer service is pretty good too. The Glacier's pretty cheap too.

Uxcell isn't bad...I just got my baby nano mp3 some days ago and I love it. Might order a black one. :) But idk when it will die, soon i guess  |
nanocopyuser and momto7- not all actions chipset players are prone to die like the glacier. A lot of other players, in fact, are very reliable. I've had one for 5 months without problems. I would be wary of the glacier, though, because although some work perfectly, a LOT have a high death rate. Try the full metal platinum 1.8" or, if you're set on a 2" screen, the osmium instead. I haven't heard any problems with those except so-so battery life and 1 member whose osmium came with hacked memory for some reason. It's not a common occurence though, so don't worry.

Uxcell are very good .. the products and the prices.
I've bought 3 mp4 players.. all full metal platinums and though the battery life is shorter than i'd like it to be.. they all work beautifully. For the price i cannot possibly expect any of them to perform to the level of a genuine iPod.. but that not a big deal. I know what i'm getting for my money. Not everyone can afford to pay hundreds of dollars for the latest in gadgets. In my line of work i see so many kids wanting the latest iPod but thier parents aren't financially well off so they have to go without.. while a few of their more fortunate friends are waving expensive iPod nanos in thier faces.. it really doesn't seem fair. I don't know what everyones deal is with the Glacier though.. when you think about it.. only a reasonably small number of people on this forum have reported problems with them... can you imagine how many other glaciers are out there that actually DO work? I would bet that it's a popular model Everyone seems to be focused on the problems SOME users on this forum have had.. so they decide "Oh... the Glacier is no good" Lets get real world here for a moment... In order to determine how bad or how good the Glacier really is, is to count how many posts are there that report the Glacier has problems, how many posts there are with people having problems with other models and how many other models that were purchased through Uxcell and how many were not. Then maybe ask Uxcell how many Glaciers they've sold and ask them to include the number that they had returned because they were faulty. I guess in said real world situation you would have to include how many people have destroyed thier Glaciers through sheer negligence and/or mistreatment but have refused to report that and blame it on Uxcells quality control. Include also cases of the item being damaged in transit. It really is a bad habit of human nature to focus on the negative rather than the positive. I'm going to get one... |
Personally i feel that it is mainly how the end-user handles the player. i have heard of many stories from friends that their players/mobile phones/electronic stuff gets damaged etc, but for me i seldom get my stuff damaged.
Maybe it's the way i handle my electronics stuff, i don't physically abuse them, avoid knocks & drops, some basic knowledge like, you don't take your player out to press the buttons in the rain, or not leaving your player to bake under the sun or in a car during summer, or even using the player in a bathroom with all the moisture steam from the hot water, etc etc.. Another reason would be the quality of components used in the players. Although i own both a nano-clone & a Teclast T29, i can't tell if the component quality is better in the T29 or not, as my nano-clone has yet to die on me at this moment. So the durability of a player depends on both component quality (which is difficult to gauge), and as well handling by the end-user (which often is the cause of many problems). |
Dear Responders:
I am much more confident now about purchasing from Uxcell. Not sure which player I'm going to get yet, but at least I feel good about the company. Thanks to all for replying. This site is very helpful. akamomto7 |
