Hello. I`m new here. I am looking at the FMP 1.8 on uxcell website. I want to buy 7 of these for gifts for family members. What are your guys thoughts? Is this the best "value" player to get? with the 10% coupon, the price is much better then ipod. I just want to choose the player with the least amount of problems. Thanks, Kevin.

You'll find that the FMP actually suffers the least amount of problems. I've had my '1.5' for about 2 months and so far no problems to speak of. Even after dismantling it several times.
I've also now bought 2 '1.8s' and apart from it having a short battery life i've had no dramas.

I expect all units to last a long time and i'll be swapping out the existing batteries for newer, longer lasting ones. As always take good care of it and it'll take care of all your musical needs. For yourself and your family members, be aware of the hazards involved in trying to 'upgrade' firmware. It's a big no no because at the moment extracting/backing up compatible firmware for them isn't possible.

I reckon you'll love it, as will your family. They make excellent gifts.

Watch out when buying that many, the US customs might have you pay duties.

I placed the order with uxcell before I saw that link for the one in the US. They look the same? With the coupon it was $321.14 for 4 of the 2 gig fmp, and 3 of the 1 gig players. Its about $70 cheaper then the one in the US, But if I bought from them, it would have been free overnite shipping. I hope I made a good choice. Thanks for the help, and the new website as well. Hey guys, I got the players I ordered from uxcell. Talk about fast shipping. I got them on sunday march 18th. I don`t usually get deliveries on sunday. I have only checked out one player so far, and its pretty nice. I will check out the rest before I give them as gifts. So far so good. Kevin

Sounds like your luck with uxcell is better than mine. I ordered a 4 gig FMP from them and they shipped it on the 8th and I still haven't seen it.
