Full Metal Platinum....?

I was prepared to order a 4GB full metal platinum mp4 player from Uxcell when they suddenly just disappeared from the website. Like literally, they were the first that I looked at. Browsed through the other player listings, came back to the FMP to purchase and the listings were gone. Now they do not even show up on the website or say sold out like the Le Clip. Does anyone know if they are no longer available or temporarily sold out?

_Odyssey 16th Mar 2007 3:10 am

What the... i was on there just a while ago.. now they're gone .. damn.. i was going to order my 4GB FMP in a few days

Edit: Ok now if i recall correctly, i once saw the blackhawk vanish from the site for a week or two then it was back on the site. "Hopefully" the FMP range will be back too?

nanocopyuser 16th Mar 2007 4:54 am

wtf...so many players are gone :|

gaboon 16th Mar 2007 6:16 am

gone..???dissapeared??kinda weird

_Odyssey 16th Mar 2007 7:48 am

They are actually still available from http://www.sourcingmap.com. This site is somehow linked to Uxcell. A banner at the side of the page says "Purchase Sample" with 'UX' on it and takes you to Uxcell.com. It won't give me a stock quantity on the 4GB models though.

Hotboxx 16th Mar 2007 11:46 am

I guess I was lucky, I was able to order a Blue Le Clip and it was shipped yesterday.

It is strange that only the recent Apple clones are removed. It can have two reasons:

1) sold out

2) Uxcell had a visit from Apple lawyers

Sourcingmap.com is Uxcell. It was made for their wholesale customers to purchase theses players in quantity. Thats why you see a price difference when purchasing say +10=$40, +20=$38.50, +30=$37.00 so with the more you buy the cheaper they get. But I do see where it says 1-10 so even though it says to go to Uxcell to purchase sample/1 player try going threw the checkout with just the 1 and see if it lets you purchase it.

Hotboxx 16th Mar 2007 2:10 pm

I am 99% shure that Uxcell has got a problem with Apple. ALL the Apple look and clones are removed from the website. That can not be by accident.

Yeah, it looks like it's my only option for now. I will shortly.

NOOBISH. Sourcingmap.com has 4 levels of shipping methods. Prices are in $US

Registered Air Transport $27.12
10 - 30 days (transportation time)

UPS Worldwide Express $28.81
2 - 5 days (transportation time)

EMS SpeedPost $20.44
3 - 5 days (transportation time)

Subsidized Air Transport $5.00
3-30 days (transportation time)

As you can see, the last is the same as Uxcells standard shipping.
When i purchase i'll just use standard and see how long it takes, i'm assuming it'll be the same as before with Uxcell. Hopefully this site will still be selling them in a few days. Since I bought my first FMP 1.5 from Uxcell i'm hooked on them. I think they're the coolest little gadgets around.
I'm also being tempted to try a 8GB model from Mp4nation.

Just a thought, could all the great discounts we get affect what they sell? Could they be trying to get a little more money by only offering them as bulk items? hmm

Da_smashman 16th Mar 2007 6:45 pm

There is a site called www.pricego.org that has Ipod clones for cheap

i know how litigous apple is but still, that doesn't make any sense. there are millions of apple clones out there, as on ebay. at least I think there still are...

Re: Full Metal Platinum....?

Yea, they got a call from Apple, or at least the supplier did...

well to all the people who scored one I guess we had a good run...

Perhaps if you send them an e-mail they might be able to sell you a FMP or Le Clip, they just cannot advertise it... (if they can send you a link to another product page just to order it)

Re: Full Metal Platinum....?

Mabey cause the players was no good .. I have order over 50 of those full metal platnium players and i have had alot of returns due to the Hour glass of death... but what i did find out was that it had alot to do with how people where unmounting thier players from windows ..alot of people never think to unmount drive..myself included.. but this appears to some how mess up the main prg thus giving hour glass.. but some players didnt get the hour glass but just gave Disk format error... fournately i had enough return players to just experiment and to fix that prob..i just reformatted drive and all was well..Seems that problem occured for me when i tried hooking up the player to diffrent pc running different versions of windows ie: windows xp , win2k.. seems those to version handle the fat32 drive different..im no tech guru so im not sure but i manage to duplicat that same result more then twice... I guess up to this point thier is no update firmware for the Full Metal Platnium players  will sure help me to hopefully recover these pile of returned players i have i havent had any problems out of many of the other models from Uxcell .. other than the i-Platinum MP4 Player 1.5 inch LCD 1GB they had alot of badd batteries it seem wouldnt hold charge.. but other than that they didnt loose thier firmware as easily such as these recent ones i purchased FullMetalPlatinum-MP4Player1.5inchLCD1GBthese have been a complete nightmare if anyone finds the firmware for these players please send me.. so i can ressurect the this pile of dead players i have

peace and hopes this sheds some light

Well just want to add my few cents to this topic.
Whatever it was Steve how made them take the players of the site or not we can only speculate.

Anyw i bought two of these Shuffle 2nd from different shops in China just to test them out.

I mean a mp3 player does not have a GUI, it can play mp3 so this time i thought they cant fail, making an ugly GUI or use AVM format to make the video an unbearable experience.

The players is exactly same size and design and apples, so far so good. Sound quality was medium compared to the cheaper MP4 player, so far so good.

BUT here comes the biggest flaw, the battery only lasts for maximum 1.5 hours !!!

So again i was disappointed.

Well i may have had really bad luck and bought two players with a really bad battery.
Thats why i got the players from two different sources , but i guess they all come from the same factory.

I really like this clone aside from the battery so please, if anyone have this player please confirm if the battery capacity is the same.

Hotboxx 17th Mar 2007 2:03 pm

Confirmed: I also bougth 2 players from 2 different sources. The first player had 3 hours playtime. The second one had only 1 hour playtime. I ordered a 3th one from Uxcell, it will be probably the same result.

I am looking forward to the Meizu music card, it looks good, good Quality, and it will for sale for a real good price.

I second that, the Meizu Music Card (m3) seems to be so nice! And the price is great too. :P

I don't think soo, because uxcell only sells low quality action chip players, they don't even have a rockchip player

nanocopyuser 18th Mar 2007 10:56 am

Omg...I really want to know whats goin' on :| Cuz so many good players are gone :(

princessanne1026 18th Mar 2007 8:08 pm

Re: Full Metal Platinum....?

well, I contacted Uxcell asking about the sudden disappearance of all the ipod looking mp4 players, and here's the response I got:

"Dear customer,

it is temporary out of stock

Best Regards
Uxcell customer service"

Do I buy it? Not for a moment. Why would EVERY single nano-lookalike suddenly go out of stock on the same day on their site? That's too much of a coincidence. Plus, there are dozens of nano lookalikes still selling on their ebay usernames discounttown and ceo1shop. But why would they lie? It's all a mystery to me...

_Odyssey 18th Mar 2007 10:29 pm

I just got the same email.

Another possibility is they are telling the truth because maybe a company or seller 'swooped' in and bought them all up. All they have left are the units set aside for ebay auctions.
There are places you can buy them apart from ebay.. for the same price, give or take about 10%

They might start to sell Rockchip & sigmatel chip players?

I hope that the prices will be as cheap as the nano clones were :| :P

Hotboxx 19th Mar 2007 1:58 pm

There must be something going on about copyright claims from Apple. Uxcell is not the only HK seller that does not sell the Nano clones anymore.

I found the homepage from our well known Tronfy Co. (= tinydirectdeal)

www.tronfy.com

And guess what, they also have no Nano clones anymore. They replaced them by models based on the Nano clone, but with a different lay out of the round control button. They also made a Zune style mpX player.

nanocopyuser 19th Mar 2007 2:06 pm

Maybe UXcell will replace with those players too? Some of them looks actually nice.

PUSHPLAY DIGITAL 19th Mar 2007 5:16 pm

It could be that the factory they use is out of stock or doing a very big order for another company. If you do a search most company's are selling the nano clones. But if uxcell stops selling the nano clones so what! The truth is the nano clones sucks we tell all our customes that. We sell over 5000 nano clones a week. There is much better players out there for $5 to $20 more with more features and looks better. But most people want the ipod look.

If you can get past the iPod looking players then you can get a real kick ass player. Look at all the pic that I have posted and other people on this site. The iPod or iPod clones do not compare.

You'd be surprised. I had a friend on eBay had her store taken down by Burberry. I wouldn't be surprised.

With that said, what a bummer!! I love my FMP 1.5 and I haven't had any trouble with it, except that when the battery gets to about 1/2 full it tends to run out rather quickly...but other than that it's been awesome. I was hoping to get one for my husband and daughter too...bummer. I've also had problems with getting back to the menu here and there but nothing that was constant. Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble getting the volume button to come up??

I agree, compared to the ones that play xvid file, spend $20 more and you will get a player that is actually comparable in quality to the iPod Video and has a more unique design.

However the nano clones don't suck, quality wise, it depends on who you buy them from, sadly people are assuming that all the clones that are out there are of the same quality, they are not.

Most people assume that the only thing they need to check is if their player has a hacked memory chip, they don't realize that the quality of the actual players varies from manufacturer. I sell MANY of these players and barely get any complaints with my players, i have only ever had to send a total of 23 players back to be serviced and have had less than 20 returned products. The quality can vary from the quality of the battery they use to the soldering to the manufacturer quality control.

The main stuff i deal with is the occasional 'disc error' as a result of people not disconnecting their devices properly.

Buy cheap get cheap shit, fork out an extra $5-$20 and you can get something a lot better and it will save you from having to buy another player 2 months after the cheap one you bought dies.

Just to add, i don't think Apple is cracking down on the actual players, chances are whoever Uxcell buys from was stamping on their players or the boxes of the player 'iPod Nano' or the Apple logo. I deal with some of the larger manufacturers and distributors (who make good mp4 players) and they haven't stopped production or distribution.
