Re: Nokia Battery...

I have a BL-5C working in my glacier now.

You are correct, that the back will not fit completely on, however if you use a good knife to cut one of the retaining tabs on the front of one side, the battery will slide on snuggly with a slight bulge at the top mid portion of the battery cover.

It's not very noticable unless you turn the player sideways and look for it.

I wanted to give it a try because of the large difference in milliamp hours that the 5C offers over the 4C.

I've had it playing WMA files for the last 2 hours, and will see how long it plays.

Id also be interested to know how long a 5c lasts. It would seem cutting one of the tabs compromises the ability of the back cover to stay on, no? Perhaps removing the battery's paper label might also help.

Re: Nokia Battery...

Well I fell asleep at the 16 hour mark, so I don't know how long it lasted.

Re: Nokia Battery...

In fact BL-4C fits right in an Mp4 rockchip player.
But I have done the same that Seraphim making fit a BL-5C into my device by making it more thin.
It worth the effort. Nokia battery (in fact is a Samsung battery) last at least three times the original chinese battery.
Rockchip device demands more battery than an Ipod clone. Manufacturer put a special remark about this, how is to s switch off the device when it's not in use.
I find out that is a Samsung battery because in the process of make the BL-5C fit in my machine I remove Nokia cover, now is a silver battery with a small Samsung marked on it. :D
Not a Nokia anymore :P

Re: Nokia Battery...

Did you say 16 hrs?! Where did you get your BL5C from?

steveamos1234 23rd Mar 2007 12:32 pm

Tried a BL5C in my Glacier today and it worked ok, but it wouldn't charge.

I kept getting a cryptic message about turning the Glacier on when charging.

Put the original battery in and it charges without problem.

Also, does anyone know if the Glacier can be charged via USB connection to a PC or using a standard USB charger other than the very cheap supplied one?

michiganjfrog 24th Mar 2007 12:23 am

Re: Nokia Battery...

It comes with a cable to connect it via USB to your pc and charge it.
You can also get a better quality charger for the bl4c on eBay or mp4nation has a 500mah one.

Seraphim 25th Mar 2007 7:43 am

Re: Nokia Battery...

You're supposed to have the Glacier in the On position when charging it.

If you find that the battery isn't charging, that means the charger isn't giving it enough juice.

Buy an after market charger on ebay for a few dollars.

Michigan, I bought my BL-5C battery on ebay for 6 bucks. Shipped.

Re: Nokia Battery...

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

well... BL-5C is not rounded... is more like a matchbox... but rather thin

Seraphim 25th Mar 2007 12:12 pm

Re: Nokia Battery...

The BL-5C stats can be found with an easy Google search. The first 2 links are probably on Nokia's sites. You'll find they give two difference mAh rating, but I think that's because there are two model Samsung batteries rather and just a goof in the data online.

If you search ebay for Ikeym you'll find the guy I bought my battery from.

I'm not sure what the other posters "LOOOOOOL" was all about. If you'd care to try again in english perhaps I can answer the question?

LOL = Laugh Out Loud
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL = a long one

Seraphim 26th Mar 2007 10:29 pm

I'm almost sure there's a question in there. I've asked many people in my counterstrike clan to help decipher "LOOOOOOOOOOL" in the hopes you're asking a question or making a shakespearian declaration of such a profound nature my mind will melt.

But I think you're just padding your post count.

DaremoS 27th Mar 2007 5:41 am

Re: Nokia Battery...

Are you talking of Shakespeare the painter?.

The long LOOOL was a reaction to somebody's question asking if Nokia BL-5C is proper Nokia battery BL-5C.
AFAIK Nokia batteries (or Samsung if you wish) adhere to stricts specifications concerning size and power... what other Nokia battery BL-5C can be then?

;)

Pfft , Writing silly messages to add to their post count , Immature

Yesterday I've tried the BL-5C of a friend's Nokia mobile phone and it doesn't fit into the Glacier.
Does the BL-5C have a plastic case that I can remove to fit the battery into the Glacier?
Otherwise I would by an original Nomia BL-4C, this should double the playback time compared to the chinese battery, too.

Seraphim 27th Mar 2007 8:25 pm

Re: Nokia Battery...

I thought I mentioned that I modded my battery and the housing on my Glacier. I'm sure I mentioned that.

Battery, take off the 'wrapper' and sand down the black plastic bit.

Not for the faint of heart.

xad 14th Apr 2007 2:23 pm

how many hours of playback would a bl-5c battery give on a device like the Glacier?

clackers91 15th Apr 2007 11:15 pm

anyone tried a BL-6C ? im about to order one =D, hopefully it fits

lite 15th Apr 2007 11:35 pm

ive got a glacier like thing , you know the one with the 2 speakers and sd slot on it , it has a 1.8" screen and 2 headphone ports , its a sun chipset , i have the BL-5C battery in it ( tight squeese) and it runs well over 20 hours . i left it on last night for 12 and still showing 75% battery left

Re: Nokia Battery...

Okay, I have some questions.
I am about to order a Glacier and a pair of BL-4C and a BL-5C battery.

Question1:
Can you post a step by step guide how to fit the 5C?

Question2:
Will the 5C charge properly? (Without another recharcher - mabye USB?)

Question3:
How long will the 4C last, because I have read that the original Glacier battery lasts 4 hours. Is a 4C worth it?

Question4:
Is there a way of fitting the 5C in it perfectly and can you take off the whole case to put it in?

Thank you, hope I am not bothering you :)
