Default silverado rockchip

Heres the problem, the mp4 player is detected by windows. I can transfer music and videos to it just fine. But any of the firmware tools out there do not detect the player at all. I installed the drivers that it came with, but with all the same results (zilch). I've used different usb cables, in both Vista and XP with the same results.

I want to update the firmware because there are some of the features on the player that are not avaliable if I choose them.

spyder559,

I have a friend with a rockchip 'Silverado'. Being a rockchip player, it's not detected by the firmware extractors currently available. They're for Actions type chipsets only. What features aren't available?

You're not really supposed to update any mp4 players firmware let alone the Silverado. So leave it be. And please don't try flashing another version of fw to it. It could disable it.
It's a great little player.

Rockchip tools for modifying the FW are available (see posts elsewhere on this forum) - just no tools to extract them from an actual player .

While most Rockchip players have very similar features, flashing a software for a diff. Rockchip player will probably render yours non-functional due to e.g. a different display, different input controls etc. Unless you find out the real mfg. or get a matching fw from UXCell, DON'T update!

As it says on UXCell's site: "the steps are complicated and can easily render your mp4 player un-usable if you cannot find the matching firmware version"

Rockchip FW updates for "brand-name" players such as e.g. Teclast or Onda, adding new features are easily found on the respective mfg's homepages.

Cheers ...
