Metal Platinum V3 Nightmare
I guess I should have came her first and read all the other problems before buying from Uxcell. I bought the 1gig Metal Platinum V3 and have had about 2 weeks of hell with it. First, I took it right out of the box and when I tried to plug in the usb, it pushed that part up into the player rendering it uncabable of getting a good connection. I should have estopped there and sent it back...but being a hardware tech that wasn't my style. I easily opened it up to find there were no screws connecting the little "mother" board to the case of the player. So, no big deal I thought. I grabbed an old watch and got 4 small screws and fixed it. Perfect I thought. Then I quickly discovered that the video was locking up the whole player at 1 second of play.
I thought it might be a firmware issue, so I ask them about reinstalling it. I told them it was version "Lisong 9.1.50 Wilson" and I didn't see it on their website. They told me it was the one with "067" and when I tried it would say invalid firmware, but they insisted that was the one. It wasn't even close because I wrote down what I had before I did it. I should have backed it up, but I went from their word and thought they were the experts. When it didnt' work they said I would have to try them all to find the right one. Well, you can imagine what that did. Now my player will not do anything except light up the screen and flash once and a while. I spent so much time on this thing to try and bring it back and couldn't. I would have to sit hear all night because I literally tried everything seen on the web. Emails went back and forth everyday for at least a week or more and everytime they wouldn't listen to me. After a week of discribing the issues, they would reply with something like "Wonder why doesn't work, have you tried different headphones?" I would think, what the heck do headphones have to with the usb port and headphone jack pushing up into the player, or how will that fix no menus on the screen. I pleaded with them to just send me another one to keep a customer and right the wrong, because I shouldn't have to pay to return it with no garuantee I would even get it back. I just don't trust them. I thought all they had to do was ship another one (I even provided them with a picture of where the screws were missing for their reference) and all would be well and they would have had a die hard customer, but instead they continued to not listen and treat me as if I was a moron. I have all emails if anyone wants to see some of the replies, just to prove they didn't even try to listen to what I was saying. If anyone reads this it is my best advise to not even get involved with them. If you end up having an issue, you will be put through hell. For me it was worse because of how hard and long I looked for the right player at the right price. As a Father of 3 children I didn't have alot of money to spend and I choose them. Well, my kids won't be getting any birthday presents from that site that is for sure. Just don't do it. They will steer you in the wrong direction and then after many many hours of frustration, their solution will be for you to pay to ship it back (and pay for the insurance)...I am not sending mine back and I am just simply never buying from there again. Someday the firmware I need will be available and if it isn't, oh well I guess. I have ordered from many sites from Tigerdirect to Amazon and never have I seen something this horrible happen to me...not even close. Well, this is my advise but you may get lucky and get an ok piece of hardware, but if you don't you might as well not waste your time, you will regret it in the end. I think for me it became the principle of the whole situation and not losing the money...they sent me one real lemon and why after all they put me through to "try" what they said should I have to send it back on my dime and time? I wouldn't trust they would even fix it if they couldn't build it right to begin with. How about a new motto "Uxcell - at your own risk" |
Re: Metal Patinum V3 Nightmare
If you paid through paypal file a complaint with them. You will get someone that speaks better english and isn't as much or a moron as the people you get on their email. You still might get lies and bs about the problems but their excuses are somewhat more believable. It's worth a shot, as their customer service is just full of complete lies and is totaly useless. You might even get some of your money back.

Re: Metal Patinum V3 Nightmare
I would call your credit card company, tell them your recieved devective merchendise and uxcell would work with you on it. They should be able to help you with it as alot of credit card compaines have a buyer protection program. You may be able to get your money back.

That's a good idea. You know what else is funny and a dead give away that their operation might be a little shady...is that when you try to post a review on their sight and choose 1 star..it won't let you even procede. I wrote one (not as long as the obove obviously) and chose one star and it kept taking me back and saying I was entering the wrong code. I did it like 5 times and I know I wasn't typing the security code worng. As soon as I chose 5 stars, but left the same review text...it took it. Of course it won't actually be posted though because they review them. If you look at the customer reviews you can kind of tell they are bogus, like the v3 review for the 1 gig black is about wishing they had more colors. They had more color variations than I have ever seen in MP4 player...

Re: Metal Patinum V3 Nightmare
I just tried the review thing and guess what? Your right if you don't give them good review with lots of stars you get a invaild security code error.

Re: Metal Platinum V3 Nightmare
See! :? I can't see how companies get away with that stuff. I think what really rubs salt in my wound is that this was the first player I have ever bought for myself. I bought my wife a Trio by Machspeed over a year ago and it still works great. I got it from TigerDirect. But I am the type of person who wants to spend as little as possible on myself and I paid the price. This probably belongs in another forum, but when I was looking for firmware I ran across a website "fullreleases.com". they are bogus also. Go there and type anything in the search and see what happens. I was going to join because they said they had lisong 9.1.50 firmware, but I am getting smart and did some research. If you type in "Fullfirmware sucks eggs" (or any choice words)..it will show as if it has it. Another scam website if you ask me. Don't join if you need firmware.

earleytech,
Sorry to hear about your problems you are having. I will try to do what I can to help out. Can't promise anything, but see what I can do. Firstly, can you send me your ORDER number, when you ordered and who you have been talking to from Customer Service please? Did you buy it from their website or from their eBay account? I will pass on this information to the contact I have at UXcell to rattle some chains and see what he can do. Word of advise though, please DON'T update the firmware of your player. Undating it with the wrong version or type will render your player dead. Having to return a dead player might make it hard to persuade UXcell. I do believe that UXcell is a good seller. There has been lots of good feedback from them in the past (and that was one of the reasons why we took them onboard as a sponsor). They've also helped out the site a lot with prize giveaways so do value this site and it's opinions. I will see what I can do to try and help you resolve this for you. |
Re: Metal Platinum V3 Nightmare
Well, this will be my last post on this subject and on Uxcell in general. I got an email from them telling me to send it back and that the postage would in no way be refunded? They made it sound as if that is what I asked for. Oh well, my wife ordered me a Mach Speed Oasis because she couldn't bare to see me waste my time with the V3 or Uxcell any longer. She saw how much time and energy I was spending on it and really wanted me to just leave it go. So I will. It is hard to get her upset because she works in Customer service and usually can relate, but even she couldn't believe what happened with this whole thing. She is awesome. Anyway, being that she did this I have no more interest in trying to play their games. My opinion is to not buy there (Sorry Binh, I know they are a sponsor and that you tried) and the bottom line is they sent me a piece of junk and will never get my business again or anyone's I know for that matter. Anyway, I really like what you have here Binh and thank you for and outlet and I will let you know how my new player turns out that she bought from another company. One she trusted. So, I hope everyone gets everything worked out, I didn't and am just chalking it up as a total loss. It feels good to just put it all behind and I should have the player I really want in a day or two. I can't wait! :D Moving on - Bill

Re: Metal Platinum V3 Nightmare
I just wanted to come back to say that I have the Mach Speed Oasis my wife ordered from Tiger Direct and it has been beautiful I got it quickly, worked right out of the box, a real solid player. Videos do great! Everything works and didn't fall apart. It did cost about $30 more that the stupid Metal Platinum piece of junk, but I am in love because it worked and has worked since. I got it. I think I will not stray from Tiger Direct again, I never have had an issue ordering from them. My advise still is just stop dealing with Uxcell (Sorry Binh, but it is just my opinion) and go somewhere like Tiger Direct. Good luck everyone.
