Default PocketDivXEncoder Freeware

Hello all,
This is my first post. I have not yet received my mp4 player (from ebay, 2gb, 1.8" screen, $96.00 shipped), but am very interested in maximum limit of mp4 players.

Here is a tool designed for pocket pc video, yet should help anyone who wants to play with:
frame rate, resolution, even rgb saturation, brightness etc.
It will NOT convert to DMV, AMV, etc. It will allow you to set your own resolution, and fps so you can customize, and then convert. Best of all it's free!
Here is the link:

http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=972

Maybe other pocket pc utilities will work for mp4 ?

Also, is this player any good?

Iridium,

Thanks for the link.
Have you tried the PocketDivXEncoder yourself? Does it work ok?

I use Virtual Dub myself personally, mainly to resize it to the correct size so my .AMV's after converting it using the AMV Convert Tool, will give me better video quality.

Binh,

My pleasure. And thank you for the great website!

This is a great tool for, as mentioned, ppc's. Really great. It allows other functions such as resizing, flipping orientation, de-interlace, color correction, and direct stream copy.
Now that I think about it, you should probably convert first w/ amvconvert to obtain the .amv file extension, then touch it up w/ PocketDivXEncoder using direct stream copy setting. Don't know if it will accept .amv files yet tho. Will try it and post results. However as I 1st mentioned, I just ordered my 1st mp4 player, and it has not arrived yet, so I cannot say if the player will accept the output.

What do you think of this player? :

Any good?

Also, should we start a new thread with the idea of testing other pocket pc utilities for mp4 ?
Thx Again for the great site....

I.

Tschau,

Thank you for the response. Your English is good, I understand you perfectly.
I'm glad you're happy w/ your player. two questions:
Will it record FM broadcasts? Is the screen bigger than shown in the picture?

Cheers !

Hey iridium...
i have the same player but its 2gig...the FM radio quality is ok..not great...it can record fm brodcasts but the quality is not good... 32kbps wav...besides which u get a bad background hum...so i wouldnt recommend it for recording....
otherwise its a great player nice audio quality..only problem is that it comes wid a non standard earphone plug...its a 2.5mm instead of 3.5mm...so u need to get an adapter to use your own pair of headphones...
hope that helped...

Thanx pagemobman for your reply,

The manufacturer emailed and said no FM recording but I suspected otherwise. They also did not seem to know the resolution, or pixel count e.g. 128x96 etc. Thier stock photo of the screen looked wrong also. Does your screen look more like this one :

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-8-1GB-usb-flas...QQcmdZViewItem ?

Thanks again for your help,
(By the way, if anyone has a chance to test drive the freeware I posted, please post your results along w/ what type of player you have... ! )

I.
