Only 115Mb(out of 1Gb) can be used for mp3 rest for data?

I just bought a mp4 player from ebay. The seller has written that it can only use 115Mb for mp3 and rest for data or video. and it has also written the please dont format it or dont upload mp3 more than 115Mb. It may damage your mp4 palyer. Is this true.

They are using 128MB memory and badly config as 1GB. To test it, you can use mp3 player utilities software come with the driver CD. You can see the actual storage size..! by the way, pls let us know which ebayer.. so that no other will be trapped..!!

It is fake, you cannot really check it via your Windows OS. Try to use the mp3 utilities tools (install the software that come with the CD driver). Then, use that software to check the actual capacity.

Ok I will check it again with the utilities. I just checked "memory info" in "system utilities" menu of my player it is also showing 997MB and it also showing a marker at 11%, i think it is utilized memory because I have around 100mb data on it. It doesn't seems to be fake.

Re: Only 115Mb(out of 1Gb) can be used for mp3 rest for data

bhelpuri,

Certain sellers and manufacturers can 'hack' the player so it displays as 1 Gig of storage when seen from Windows Explorer when it actually has 128MB of storage instead. For obvious reasons, 128MB flash memory is cheaper than a 1Gb one.

The best way to know for sure is to FORMAT your player using the MP3 Utilities (which you can download from our site here). This will wipe it clean and should show u the true storage.

Also, if someone tells you that you can only store 115Mb out of 1 Gig, I would definately question that and how legit the product is. Try filling your player with about 900MB of files and see what happens. It should error if it can't store that much.

Good luck and hope you didn't get ripped off.

I copied 900+ MB data on the player it is ok no probs. I think it is having 1GB memory. Now the question why seller has written that precondition in his ad at ebay.

I have copied around 200MB of mp3 and some 100MB other data on my player and it is working fine. I thinik the seller has written the note just like that. Thanks for all your replies and support.

bhelpuri,

The seller probably wrote that to cover himself in case there was a dodgy player which had been hacked to show more memory than it has. That way, he can say "it was mentioned"....? Dodgy.
