Default More Freeware for mp4!!!

Hi Guys,

I have been searching for a way to convert dvd files (.VOB) on my harddrive to a format that AMV Convert Tool will accept for convervsion to player.
I found this (DVDX) :

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVDx.htm

It will produce a VCD/DVD compliant MPEG1 OR 2(DVD) file which you then convert w/ AMV Convert Tool.
If dvd files are still on your dvd and you need to rip them to your HDD, then download this freeware 1st (DVD Shrink) from this site:

http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...ile&file_id=79

If you have a vcd you want to copy:
Insert vcd
find avseq.dat file should be in the 400-700 mb range. Copy and paste or drag to HDD. Then rename to xxxxx.mpeg extension. then convert w/ DVDX. (haven't tried this yet, but should work (;>) .
Good luck, have fun, and.... "post your results" !

Hi!

I need some help. I have created a video with WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER using my handycam. The movies is a WMV file and can run only on Windows XP and not on Windows 2000/98/95. Is there a software which can convert the WMV file to a MOVIE FORMAT which can run on Windows 2000/98/95 also?

Jose

peerlessbiotech,

I am not familiar w/ WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER but I assume it will output standard mpeg1 or 2 files. Please select that output format and run project again. Then convert.
Also,
wmv is simply a compression format used by windows media player, so I recommend you install latest version of same, and you will have the right codecs installed as well.
Actually disregard that, and download/install ..... Media Player Classic, ...... which will play virtually all media types: rm, ram, mov, wmv, mpg, avi, etc.
Google Media Player Classic, and you will find it.

You can google WINAVI as well. it is payware tho, but has a free trial period, I believe. WINAVI will convert pretty much anything to anything else.
Post results so we may all learn........

Iridium

The only thing about converting to VCD is you loose a great deal of QUALITY as VCD's conform to a fairly old standard.

If you want really good quality, try to use DVD Shrink (which you can download here) and convert it to AVI or something similar with better quality settings.

The best way to get the best quality is to RESIZE the video down to the size you want as your end result (ie: 128x128) then use the AMV convert tool to convert it to .AMV. You will notice a diffence in quality.

You will need a codec to play Windows Media Video files (.WMV).
Try our codec pack - SLD Codec Pack 2.2 from here.

Let me know if this works.

Binh,

I think one would be hard pressed to tell the difference in quality between mpeg1 or 2 at 160x120 resolution. Anyway, my results are quick, and very satisfactory. Try it!
BTW,
I guess ONE.... or all, or none... of our suggestions worked for Jose, hey?!
Maybe we'll never know, hehehe.....
