Problems With Firmware Modifier
 

I didn't really found a good section to post this. So, go figures... Sorry, if this is not the correct place, but please do correct me if so.

I tried using this tool a couple of days ago (Firmware modifier). I downloaded the newest firmware for the 1.5 players from this site, and updated my firmware.

Turned on the player and check the contents. My old one has games, and so does the new one. Everything looks okay. So, i tried using this tool to modify my firmware.

-changed company name, and all those matters to (something else)
-didnt touch any other options
-saved into computer

Then i overwrite my current firmware with the edited one. Did some testings.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Some of my menus are gone! Yeah, my games are all gone, and i think the telbook menu are gone.

So, i overwrote it with the original firmware. Back to normal!

*Darn, I wish the modification would have been a success, because the company name was me! eheheh :)

Yes, Firmware Modifier is not 100% perfect. It will let you modify the settings, however with certain newer firmwares, it will wipe out "Games" etc... from your main menu. If that happens, STOP there and won't try it anymore. It's the way Firmware Modifier works. I've tried it on a few players and it wipes out my "Games" from the main menu too.

It's a pity because the Firmware Modifier can default our language to English, which is very handy esp if you're updating your firmware, then when u turn it on, it's all in Chinese. But after awhile u get to know the menus to change it back to English :)
