Startup , shutdown Animations

Here is a quick guide on how I did some animations for My 2GB nanoclone:

1 Play your favorite movie in Powerdvd, Windvd, or any player which allows screen captures. Capture a sequence of 16- 17 frames. Mine needs 16 frames. My shutdown sequence requires 8 bmp's. So capture 8 more pics for shutdown. You can of course simply use any pics in sequence already in your photos folder.

2 make sure saved format is correct for your player, BMP, OR GIF, ETC.

3 Resize to the resolution for your player IE, 128x128, etc. using :

http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1313

or google IRFANVIEW which is another great FREEWARE tool, but more for expert photo editors.
Save.

4 Follow Admin's excellent tutorial on modding your firmware here :

http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=206

5 under END.RES go to ICON, then CO1 and start replacing bmp's or gif's with your new sequence.

6 Do the same for startup sequence at: LOGO.RES / ICON /AO1....ETC.

7 At this point you could also replace all of the background screens.

8 Save and rename your dump.bin file to ' new dump.bin"

9 That's it! You're done!

10 Post your new themes in uploads if you like...

It's actually quite easy to mod your new player.

Kinda fun too.

Hope this helps.
Since I haven't really seen anything on redoing startup amimations here... Good luck,

I.

The screen capture is a nice idea, certainly beats creating each image individually.

Iridium

Great set of instructions.
When I get a chance, I'll add this to the Knowledge Base (maybe with some screenshots too).

VirtualDub (also freeware) can extract images from movie files too. But I too like your idea of using an extractor to get the images from a movie.

Thanks guys for the props.

It really is very easy to do.
The key is the 'sequence' effect. It's kinda cool.

I'd be honored if you add it to knowledge base Binh.

Look forward to seeing your screenshots...

Cheers!
