Re: why does ip0d cost so much?
mofo0427, I suppose with a Genuine iPod you are getting a name brand product with after sales support and warranty, you can be guaranteed that the product is going to do what it is advertised to do and buy with confidence. All this comes at a cost.
Clones on the other hand offer none or few of these benefits and there are a few traders selling hacked and modified players that are no where near the specifications advertised as far as storage size and compatibility go. If you buy a good clone they can be very good value for money if not you could be buying a nightmare. Do some research and do not be afraid to ask traders questions before bidding and handing over your hard earned cash. Be cautious of traders who state conflicting information, offer no warranty or have a disclaimer regarding formatting your player and state restrictions on how much and what you can store on your player. These are all signs that things may not be as they seem. Finally do not get into a last minute bidding war some traders will log in as a bogus buyer and drive up the bidding in the final few minutes. Set yourself a limit and stick to it there are plenty of players on the market. PS. IF AN WHEN YOU DO FINALLY PURCHASE A PLAYER DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE WITHOUT BEING SURE THAT THE UPGRADE YOU ARE APPLYING IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR PLAYER. A BAD UPGRADE CAN RENDER YOUR PLAYER UNUSABLE. |

I agree with the Guest on this one. I would also add that iPod has spent a lot of money on their advertising, I am sure millions, and so they very graciously pass that cost on to you the one who buys iPods  . Please be aware of people selling junk and just trying to make a buck, but there are many good players out there.

ipods are alot better than these players in a variety of ways. The fact you can actually select a song you want is one . Even though i have an MP4 player, I still want an ipod, come on, just saying "i have an ipod" makes it that much more special

I like the challenge of the MPx players rather than the iPods. I like the user unfriendliness but more importantly, that you can reskin your player and customise it quite easier. Plus, I'm not one of those "I need iTunes to transfer music onto my player" type people....... |
I can watch video, I can listen to music, I can store address and phone info, view picture, listen to the radio and record memos as well as store data files. I can access all this on any PC with a USB port and store it any way I like without having to install any software and as Binh pointed out I can change the way it looks all for a fraction of the cost of an over priced, access restricting, fashion statement "iDud".
