plumplum, regarding folders, make sure you have repeat set to normal, and press the play button to select the folder you want not the menu button.

Do not try to update the firmware unless you are 100% sure that the firmware you are updating to is compatible with your player. A player with non consecutive menus and no battery status is better than a player that does not work at all.

plumbum, "r0m4n" has just uploaded the firmware from his player which appears to be the same as yours. You should send him a Personal Message regarding some of the problems you are having he may be able to help.

Re: Help identify my player

You are right, the menu and battery status are onli peanuts, it onli indicates for me that there is a real problem. To select a directory does not work at all and that's something a 2GB player realy needs.

I would be absolutly satisfied with this player without this buck. it has nice and robust metal enclosure, the buttons could be better/nicer but they work properly. Nice big display. it has lot of features even the radio works well. no need of software on all systems (i use windows, mac and linux). At last 2GB capacity for about 80€ is a strong argument against iPod.

of course I don't wont to 'kill' my player. I will try the dump from r0m4n that should be safe.

Thanx for any suggestions.

Re: Help identify my player

The problem with selecting music from a particular folder is common to most MP4 players. Basically it doesn't matter what folder it is in, the player will play all your MP3,WMA etc from all your folders.

You can arrange the files in a playlist type of way, so they play in the order you want.

This is my experience with MP4 players, do newer firmware versions allow music to be played from one particular folder and not play all of the music on the player?

razzer001, Depends on your Repeat settings
NORMAL will play all music files in sequence until the end.
REPEAT ONE will repeat a single song
FOLDER will play the files in a folder
FOLDER REPEAT will repeat all music files in a folder
REPEAT ALL will repeat all files in a loop
