[Solved]Info needed
 

Hi all
Recently I bought this MP4 player (obviously china make) it is 1GB

The firmware version is
2005/12/16
3.5.35
2006/03/22
JTYMD038V4

Can anyone confirm me is it really 1GB or a fake one.
How can I check that?

prasanna, this does not seem to be a problem with to many 1GB players. The best way to find out for sure is to open the player and note the brand and serial number of your memory chip (usually the largest chip on the board). Then doing a Google search with this information will find the specifications for your chip.

Thanx for ur reply.
Opening the player and checking will do that.
I asked this question as i got scared from reading some posts on fake memory.
Buy seller had given a statement that "dont format the player otherwise it will play only first 25 songs and will restart".
Is this have to do something with fake memory since 25 songs will approximately come to 128mb.
Bear with me as I ask too many questions

prasanna, ok if your seller has told you not to format your player I would definatly be checking the chip to find it's real capacity.

And feel free to ask as many questions as you need, that is why the forum is here. :)

I tried to open the case but stopped fearing i would damage it.
Is there anyother way?

If it is a fake one it will not play files beyond its original memory capacity right?
Right now I have 990 MB of songs in my player.

prasanna, you could try loading it until it is full and then start playing. If you start having problems then this could mean that something is not right with your chip.

The other thing you could do is without actually running the format process, right click on your player in explorer and select format and see if it will let you select FAT if it will only let you select FAT32 this could also mean there is a problem.

Ultimately the only way to be sure is to look at the chip.

I loaded the player to its full capacity and played the last song which was of duration 5:03 mins it played fully without any problem.
I also checked the format option, it is allowing me to select all the three FAT,FAT32 and NTFS.
Anyhow I will try to check the chip.

Maybe FAT32 is ok in the end? Or maybe it's ok for the NEWER Mpx players instead?

It's always recommended to me (and in some manuals) to use FAT so I never really tried FAT32 instead.........
