8GB ChiPod's?

What do you think of the 8gb chipod players?. Do you think these are hacked as well?. Or can they really be 8gb?.

Pocket_Nano

Do you have a link to them?
What is their price?

Comparing those will give me a better idea. First impressions, sounds like a 'hacked' player to me.

Pocket_Nano, I just did a quick price check on 8GB USB Drives and they run from $200 to $400 USD, So I put my money on HACKED.

I agree with tadad.

8 Gigs for USD$100 is just way too CHEAP.

It'll be hard to find one that's 4 Gigs for that price even.

Can you send us a link to the site for the ChiPods?

If sold single they are USD $150 but I buy in bulk so I pay $100 for my price at 50 or more players. Thats why I said I get them for $100. As for the link I get them from a personal contact not a website sorry. But I heard that there were not even 4gb's that were legit so I thought I would get some thought on the subject before purchasing the 8gb's. But I also now know how to take these players apart and identify the flash chips thanks to this website. So I think I'll just purchase 1 of them and do my own little investigating!. :)

Wow, very nice collection there! :D
I only have about 20 pcs in total.
So you sell them yourself?
Through website etc...??
Are they selling well.

Yes, try not to be fooled by the 8 Gigs one. I have a few contacts with mpx manufacturers in China and none can offer me 4 Gigs, yet alone 8 Gigs.

Thanks! Yes I sell them on ebay, to friends and wherever I can. I was thinking of having me a website built to sell them. Any suggestions on a good domain name for a website to sell my players?. ChiPods.com is already taken lol lol Ok thanks for the advice I guess I will stick to the legit 2gb's.

I have a manufacturer that swears 4gb ipod style nano clone mp3/4 player exist. They're doubling up on 2gb chips.

Re: 8GB ChiPod's?

Ya but it's finding the right seller that has them without getting ripped off in the process. Purchase 1 as a sample and open it up and see for yourself if there is x2 2gb chips inside. Then let us know how it goes. Maybe you can post pic's of it as well so others can see. We will appreciate that if you will. So we all can see that there are legit 4gb's out there. Thanks!.

guest,

Use the MP3 Disk Tool (part of the MP3 Utilities install) and do a LOW format.

Then see what Windows shows up afterwards. Hacked players are getting good now to the point that formatting it in Windows will still show the hacked size instead of the true size.

Hopefully you've got a good dead but I would check anyway just to be sure.

hi there. i just received a '4gb' unit. the first thing i did was use mp3 disk tool. the format screen tells me its 3998.5mb, but the partition and encrypt tells me its 1951mb.
so, it's a 2gb hacked unit, yes?

tadad1 28th Jul 2006 8:54 am

mcek, It is most likely. 90% of these ChiPods now use an ATJ2085 cpu which I'm told only supports max 2GB flash memory. I have seen pictures in a couple of posts that show 2 memory slots (2x2GB)on the main board but only one slot is being used.

To find out your players true chip size you need to open the player and note the memory chip (the largest on the board) serial number and brand, using this info to do a Google search will generally find you the chip specs.
