Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
Another one caught, this time with a 2GB player hacked to look like a 4GB, purchased from power_player88 on eBay. I notice that the vendor is getting some negatives due to hacked flash drives and the like, but much is due to odd shipping issues -- many of his shipments seem to get delayed, which was acknowledged with a printed slip inside the player box and an "additional gift" -- which was a pink fish-shaped thing that I think is a cable organizer of some kind. Very strange.
The player is an ME2 badged nanoclone with a 1.8" screen, and the price, shipping thrown in, was $38.85 or so after conversion from Australian (the vendor lists in a variety of currencies, and is honest about it shipping from HK.) I discovered it was a hack job pretty well immediately -- converted a handful of videos and threw them on the unit, then added some audiobooks, and then went to add some music...and got the dreaded format error, followed by trashed directory entries and undeletable files. Researching this brought me here, and applying the standard tools in the standard way removed the hack and left me with a 2GB unit. While this is annoying and frustrating, I didn't get burned as badly as some. Even so I left negative feedback and opened a dispute in PayPal. |
Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
Listen everyone...Before you all go off and leave negative feedback to EBay sellers, Please read this about me. I was one of the people who were selling hacked MP4 Players on EBay. The differance is that I didnt know they were hacked. As soon as I found out that these were hacked players I removed my ads on ebay and I am now involved with the FBI and The N.C. Atty. Generals Office to stop the company that is selling these players to people like me. There are several companys that are selling these players right here in the USA. The websites are as follows:
http://www.thecomputercityinc.com/ http://www.deals-directinc.com/ http://www.superdealsco.com/ I have found hundreds of people that have been scammed by this company. These 3 websites are all run by a fraud company called Deals Direct Inc. They have a business account in N.C. If any one you know has purchased from these Companys and been screwed by them it is imparitive that you submit a complaint at www.ic3.gov This is the website that the FBI is using to compile data aginst these companies. I would also ask that anyone who wants to fight to get there money back to please send me any information they can about how they were ripped off by these people. I assure you that I will not post any personal information you send to me on any wedsite. I will need you Name address and Phone Number & the amount that they ripped you off. The information that I am requesting is for the North Carolina Atty. General. I am trying to get as many people to give to them so they can try to get our money back. I have found the bank that they are using and I have already forwarded this information to the FBI. I tried to get there bank information however the bank would not give it to me. I have there account number and I know that the bank has there real name and address and phone number. If I can get a larger number of people to work with me I know that the FBI and the Atty. General in North Carolina will do somthing about this and help us all to get our money back. Please do not always place the fault on the EBay Seller. As in my case I didn't know what I was getting into until it was too late. Please forward this message to as many People that you can...You can email me at msal2907@yahoo.com |
Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
Dont ever worry about hacked mp4 players as long as you are buying off of ebay site.

Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player

Most probably they are hacked (I got one). Copy many files into, then copy back to computer, check if you can open them. Controller chip producer give out a software to set the size. If you want you can set size to 100000 MB. |
Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
well , i faced this problem B4 when i bought about 200 MP3 players from the source by trading office , however < i discovered the problem when my costomers get it back to me , but i changed them all & paid 6 $ for each one , 1.5 $ for (both shipping & tax) & three months of delay
IT WAS BIG LOST it`s display " File Error " when play the last files who is over 130 MB you can`t play the last files on PC by Windows Medial Player from the MP3 directly & tell you unsupported media format |
Hi MPxIRAQ,
It's unfortunate that this has happened to you. It's hard to tell if you are going to get hacked players or not isn't it? Even if you have good samples, they can still scam you with hacked players when you make a real order. Can you contact the seller and discuss what they can do about it to compensate you? |
well
first i didn`t bought them by myself dirctly, i did that by broker , when he inform me about the price (12.5$ 2GB MP3 with FM), it was enticing price, they scam both me & the broker too indeed , they won`t give you a real compensate just in 2 cases: unless you pay additional coast for the players that has orginal memory chips ( & i did that). the quality had been proved in the purchase menu in legal form ( 4 me it wasn`t & that was the problem) |
Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
Hi Experts,
could somebody tell, what kind of mp4 player is it: iPod Nano 8GB Firmware info: LG MP3 player DX91008 CM70038 2008/01/28 ACT_V9.1.52 If I try to copy files and directories to this player, after some directory, most of directories are empty or lots of directories contain same files. How can I solve this problem, if possible? Thanks for your support! Peter |
Re: hacked "4, 8Gb" player
@ neverhood
It sounds your player is hacked. Often 8 GB in advertisement, in reality 2 GB. The Firmware you have on your player is NEW. Try to copy all data on your player untill it is full. After that copy the data back on your pc. Look how much data is now on your pc. There is a good tool out there its name is "HDTUNE" look with google. |
Yet another victim. Wish I had found this forum before I bought the bloody thing, but this was my first MP3/4 so had no idea that this scam was so common. :(
16Gb= 4Gb. I'll certainly complain to the Chinese ebay seller, but I don't expect a lot of satisfaction from either him or ebay. After 30 days ebay don't give a shit and it's a no-brainer that the seller doesn't. Sad to say but, when we buy from unregulated countries like China at below Western prices, we have to accept the risk that we are buying shit. Would you buy vI@gr@ from them? Bloody sure I wouldn't! For me, the most annoying thing is that the mpx player disk tool doesn't work so I can fix it. It doesn't recognise the frigging Chinese mp4 and says that I need to connect it. Powerdesk/Windows Explorer recognise it, but the tool doesn't. Any ideas anyone? Seriously thinking about going back to radio.........or bongo drums.....? |

For you to feel better...I bought 2 mp4 16gb and 1 mp5 16 gb and at least the 2 mp4 players are 16gb fake...After adding 2 gb, info starts breaking!
Now I'm testing the mp5 16 gb, to see if it's usable. At least this one has a SD card slot, so it can read maybe 8gb cards.. Player is nice and complete, but has to work! This is the 16gb 2.8: NEW 16GB MP3 MP4 SD PLAYER 2.8" TFT 2.0MP CAMERA MD2 - eBay (item 390087669333 end time Sep-01-09 20:12:00 PDT) GOOD LUCK! |
This looks pretty similar to the one I bought. The ad for yours (and mine) says it takes up to 2gb sd cards, so I'm not sure that you'll get an 8gb to work. Good luck with that - at least a total of 10gb (the 2 in the device and 8 on a card) would be usable.
The dealer replied to my email, saying that he was cheated by the manufacturer and offered me $8 back. Since I paid £20 (around $33) inc shipping I guess this is likely to be the most I'll get. It's annoying that I can't get the mpx player disk tool to recognise it so it is still telling me that it's got 16gb. |

The curious is that I was looking for the memory model info in the HYNIX web site and there's no data on it... |
Seems that mine is only a 2gb as well - load on files after about 1.85gb and they go wobbly. The seller has agreed to refund me £8.50 (just under $14) so it has only cost me £11.50 ($18.75) but it's still bloody annoying. Being pragmatic though, chances of getting a full refund from China, even going through ebay and paypal, would be slim.
Looking on the bright side, even a 2gb with 2.8" touch screen and mini sd slot for £11.50 isn't a bad deal. I can live with that. What really pisses me off is that I can't undo the hack so that the bastard reveals what its real capacity is! As for the memory, I haven't dared to take a screwdriver to it - the bloody thing is causing me enough trouble as it is without my wrecking it! It's not that I'm mean, but if I can't sort it through software and it gets to the soldering iron stage, I'm stuffed. Gotta know your limitations! :) |
I bought two MP4 players from different vendors, and both were hacked.
The first was an "8GB" iPod Nano lookalike. It was actually 4G. I paid $27 (Australian dollars). Not realising it was a scam, I tried mailing it to China but the post office wouldn't take something with a Lithium battery in it by air mail. I contacted the vendor again and came to a compromise, $10 refund. I didn't realise at the time it was a scam. $17 was actually a pretty good price for a 4G iPod Nano lookalike. It works great, as long as I don't try to put more than 4G on it. All in all, I'm happy but still have a sour taste from knowing it was a scam. But when my second one, a "32GB" iPod Touch lookalike arrived and I had the same issue, I got suspicious. A bit of Googling got me to sites like this. Armed with links which I emailed him, I said I know it was a scam, and I said if I didn't get a $20 refund immediately I'd make trouble for him. I launched a PayPal complaint. He paid me the $20. I still gave him a bad rating though, stated in the comment that it was a scam, a 4G drive with hacked chip to look like 32G. Then it died, after only a couple of hours of use it's a brick. I demanded the other $20 to be repaid. He initially said no, but I pointed out my negative rating and offered to withdraw it if he paid the remaining $20. I also made some scary noises about how I'd managed to get another eBay seller's account banned for a similar scam previously. He paid me the second $20. Now I'm hoping to fix it with firmware from this site, as soon as someone replies to my "Chipod Touch" post in the dead players forum. All's well that ends well, but I'm still mad and have reported him to eBay anyway. |

So now the Chinese spammers are on here to flog their shit? You REALLY couldn't make it up! |

well , hacked mp4 player is normally , it's impossible to buy a cheaper mp4 with lowest cost .impossile .
the hacked mp4 player it's hard to verify , the merchant use a tool to make it looks like real memory . so don't believe you could buy a good quality player with lowest price. |
