MP4 questions - First post so bear with me.

Hi all,

I have been wanting to buy a 4gb mp4 player from ebay for a while now, but kept putting it off as when I was reading feedback there was always 1 negative comment about the memory being 'fake'.

As it happens I was checking the feedback today and somebody had left this websites address in the feedback, and from what I have read so far it looks like I was right to be suspicious about the 4gb.

Anyway, What I am after is a cheap 2gb mp3/mp4 player just to get me started. Are the nano style ones on ebay my best bet? If anybody has bought one from there could they let me know the sellers name so I can buy in confidence please, or a web address of a good seller that ships to the UK?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Hi goldenballs,

Not so sure about buy with confidence if you decide to go the HK route like I did - I ordered two and both came in just over a week for a good price. But ordering from China carries it risks, i.e problematic in sorting if the item doesnt turn up, and possible hold-up at customs. ( You are legally supposed to pay import duty and vat ), but most are sent marked as "gift", and I received mine with no charges or hassles.

DIYSHOP3 ( Check him out - he was doing 2GB ones yesterday, but only see 1GB ones today )

Hope that helps a little

Cheers

Si

I purchased a 1.8 " 2gb, Ipod clone from e-bay. Under £50. The instructions are rubbish but the player is pretty good for the money. Already playing vids and music, although vid quality is pretty poor.(will have to work on that)
The seller was :-http://stores.ebay.co.uk/WINSOR-DIRECT
Hope its okay to post a link. :)

They are based in the UK, so if there are any problems you can find them and give someone a slap.

It's good you did some reading up before buying the 4 GB player and also it's good that you have read their feedback too.

A few people now have mentioned they have been stung with 'hacked' players.

Sorry, Im not from the UK so can't give you the exact details of eBay in the UK.

Safest bet is to go with 2 GB player, not 4 GB. Maybe post a comment/question on the auction saying if you discover that the player has WRONG size storage, will they do a refund or exchange. That way you are covered alittle more as you have made the effect to mention it.

Also, another suggestion is when you do decide to get it, FORMAT it straight away! Then fill it up to the max and try playing all songs. This will tell you immediately whether it's a geniune player or a hacked one.

Good luck.

OK, lets be perfectly clear :

1,948,198,461,414,614,6146 Gb = GUARANTEED HACKED.

12 Gb = GUARANTEED HACKED.

10 Gb = GUARANTEED HACKED.

8 Gb = GUARANTEED HACKED.

4 Gb = GUARANTEED HACKED.

2GB= probably OK.... Follow instructions on how to check it our on this site....
