memory
i bought a mp4 player... it has a built in space of 512 mb( thats what the computer and player settings say.)
i just discovered that when i cross the limit of 233mb... i mean which ever file i put after 233mb used space.. it gets corrupted. i had put music of 219mb and i after that i got some pictures from my friend of about 200mb. except 2-3 pictures all the rest were corrupted. when i tried the MP4 PLAYER DISK TOOL, in that it show 499mb. but when i select PARTITION AND ENCRYPT option, it shows disk total capacity 233mb. can u plz tell me that it happens in all the players or just in my player. and how to solve it. |
sidharth101, Your player may only have 256MB memory. There are more and more players being sold that have their chips hacked so that they appear to be larger than they really are. When you go over the true limit of your chip file corruption occurs. Here is another post we have had about the same problem.

Use the MP3 Player Disk Tool, change the "Encryption/Parition" to 0MB, then choose "LOW" disk format option and format your player. Try that and then see what disk size you have now. Generaly this will wipe out any hacks done to the player. Let me know. |
Re: memory
buddy you were right.. after formatting it the way you said...
it gives only 233.27 mb. i m screwed up... when i realised this fault it was to late... i can't even replace or return it... but isn't there any way one can check whether the player is hacked or not, when one goes to buy it from the market...??? isn't there anyway we can help others who are planning to buy new players... |
sidharth101, Unfortunatly there is no way to check before you buy you can only rely on the honesty of the seller. I notice you are from India, this problem seems to occcur quite oftern in your part of the world. A few members who purchsed their players from Rediff (I am not sure what Rediff is) sellers have found their players hacked.

Hey Tadad1, Rediff.com is like the Google of India. It is a highly popular and highly visited website in southeast asia. They are a blend of search, news, shopping, travel and even jobs. I have also seen 1-2 people who have had problems buying players from Rediff.com - all I can say is to stay away from them as they are being dishonest.

Re: memory
 I bought a 4GB Nano Clone. I transfered 2 gigabytes of MP3s and AMVs and they play fine but that is the limit. I only paid $60. US including the shipping. I think that is reasonable for a 2gb player. I was just wanted something bigger than a 1gb.
The power button broke after two days. The button was hard to use with the skin on the player as the button was recessed. I opened the player and made a new button to fit over the switch. I made it slighly higher than the skin cover and it is easier to use and more durable. It also matches the skin so it looks good. I did notice the memory was Samsung and the player is a Wilson. It looks like the battery would easily be replaced even though the wires are soldered to the main board. I think I will buy a USB battery pack even though I get over six hours of music on the current battery. |
