advice on getting an mp4 player

i have been researching this flood on ipod nano knock offs and am considering buying one. did want a 4gb but after my research and info from these forums i wont even try.

i am looking for 2gb with 1.8 screen size (perferably TFT as it seems thats the best right?)

but a little werry of getting them off e-bay.

I am kinda leaning twards one like this as its specs are nice and saw a reveiw in these forums on one
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-8-2GB-MP3-MP4-...QQcmdZViewItem
the reveiw was for a 1gb ver of it, anyone have the 2gb ver? is it real or a hacked 1gb? and anyone know if this seller can be trusted?

other then that one there is the 1.8 nano clones. but all this stuff with the firmwares and some not being able to folder browse is dishearting since most e-bayers dont say the firmware ver. so anyone know any trust worthy sellers of these ones on ebay? or none ebay places to get them for good prices?

also found these interesting little things on a wholesale site.
http://www.globalsourcesdirect.com/s...-Player/Detail

claims to have a mini 6gb HDD instead of flash memory and other interesting fetures, anyone seen these anywhere or used them?

ok thats enough questions for now thanks in advance for any advice

Guest, Just use a bit of caution when buying your player. Be aware that just because they look the same does not mean they are, the internal componenets and firmware can differ greatly. I have an excellent little player that looks like the one in your link but the specs are differrent. The 6GB players look pretty cool but I know nothing about them.

Guest,

I have seen that 6GB player before. A supplier from China was offering me it, but it was just too expensive at the time for me to buy it. Can't verify if it's true 6GB though.

Re: Buying....

If you can, ask the seller to find out the firmware version. It's displayed in the player in the [settings] menu, ask them to find it and post it.

The newer the firmware, the more likely you might get one that has file browsing capable as it's available now.....

I have the 3.5.37 ver but still no file browsing on it :(

If you can buy one, buy it locally in case there are any problems.

Also, ask the seller some hard questions:
1. What is the refund policy?
2. What if the memory in the player isn't what is stated in the auction (ie: hacked player with fake memory). Buying a 1GB player doesn't guarantee you'll get one 1GB.
3. What is his policy on faulty parts like USB cable or wall charger?

There are LOTS of sellers around, so you can be picky and choose the one that answers your question more and have good returns policy in case of an problems.

Hope that heps.
