Guest,

It's strange that you have to leave your player playing though.

It sounds to me that you might hve to check the OFF timer and SLEEP time as what I think is happening could be that your player switches off after a certain time and for some reason, doesn't then charge if it switches off.

Also, when you charge your player, do you use the [on/off] switch to turn it off? You shouldn't need to.

Also, while you left it charging on your computer, was your computer ON? You computer will need to be on to charge the player.

Here's some things to try:
1. Set a time/clock setting in your player.
2. Go into the settings of your player and chance the settings for 'dark', 'darkle', 'sleep' and 'off' time to ZERO instead. This should now disable your player from going to sleep or turning off the screen.
3. Now leave your player charging on your computer. Remember to leave your computer ON as well.

when charging, does it matter if the screen is showing the mp3 player screen? this is the only way the screen stays on.
if i just plug the usb in, a picture of the mp4 and pc show up with (zzz's) on it, then the screen goes off, is is normal? Also , how long until its fully charged?

Guest, it is alright if the screen turns off in fact it is better as the player will charge faster with the screen off. If the MP3 screen is staying on you should go to Settings>LCD Set>Darkle or Black and set the timer for between 5 or 30 seconds then the screen will turn off at the set time conserving the battery. The LCD is proberably the biggest drain on the battery. You may need to set the Power Off setting to 0 as well.

Guest, The LCD off setting of darkle or black sets the screen to turn off after a certain time, every thing will still be working, music playing etc just the screen goes off. This is to conserve power.
The Power off setting sets the player to turn off if it is inactive for a set period of time. So if it is on and you are not playing any music or activating any buttons it will turn off and you have to hold down the play button to start it again.
As long as the the player is on when charging it does not matter if the screen turns off but if it powers off it may not charge.

tadad1 is exactly right - i am on the chinese mainland, and deal in many different models of mp3 / mp4 players. when you plug your player into your pc or wall power supply, TURN the power switch ON religiously. not doing this causes charging problems with many different models.

Guest, It depends on the player I have one that keeps showing the charging animation the whole time it is connected while the others stop when the battery is full. A full charge should take 3 - 4 hours depending on the battery size.

Champenois, May I ask what is your experience with 4GB and 8GB players, we see so many posts of people buying them and later finding that the true memory size is much smaller. It appears that they have been manipulated in some way so that they are read as having much more storage capacity than really exists. Have you had any experience with players with this problem?
I have seen a photo posted by a member who's player had a board that had provision for a second memory chip which would allow 2x2GB chips for a true 4GB but have never seen any proof that they exist.
Any comments you can make would be most appreciated.

Thanking you in Advance,
Terry
