When you plug it in to the USB the player must be turned on at the switch or it will not charge.
Try another USB port.
If you have a wall charger try that.
If you still have no joy your USB cord may be faulty.

Thanks.

Just tried all of that with no result.
Just Tried the resetting the dead player and didnt get any response from the machine either.
From reading a little more it appears that I may have fallen victim to the batteries and the specifics of charging.

Does anyone know where to buy a replacement li-ion battery for it. All I know is that its 3.7 v everything else is in chinese on it so I cant get any real details.

Thanks

Just to confirm, you've tried another USB cable as well as a wall charger and it's not charging your player?

If that is the case, seems like a faulty battery.

How long have you had your player?
Has it charged ok in the past?
Has anything been done to it prior to this started happening?

Yep tried numerous usb and different computers.

Sadly I have lugged it around SE Asia for 6 weeks with only the demo items on it and with the battery charged as it was. I plugged the USB cable into it while it was on. It showed connected on the screen and appeared to be charging so I left it upon return a few hours later dead.

The most annoying part of it is that I have now looked on E-bay and it looks as though I could have baught it on there for cheaper anyway.

Unless you can think of some other things to try, I'm not holding out much hope.

Thanks for helping though.

Is it possible for the lithium ion battery to die out after charging it a few times

It was working before when I would charge it while the songs continued playing , while it hooked up by usb to my pc

Now it does not seem to be charging  I opened the mp4 player and smushed the battery in again to make suere and now I am charging and thre battery indicator is showing it charging but when I disconnect the usb I do not see a difference in the indicator

I really do not know whats going on, I hope it will charge and if not then how do I get a new battery?

Nikki, I suppose it could if it were faulty but it should have a life of several hundred charges before it dies. I did a google search for 3.7v Lithium Polymer batteries and the only places I found that sell them are Model Remote control Plane sites as they have the best weight to power ratio but the problem is finding one that will fit into your player as most seem to be slightly larger. You need to find one over about 200mAh to give you any reasonable play time any thing below that will only give you 2 or 3 hours.

You could try a mobile phone repair they may be able to test the battery and offer you solutions.

nevermind , friend

i have solved the problem

it appears that the usb cable supplied was faulty, or the usb port i was using was not good.

i got out a different usb cable and inserted it into a different port. the player has now charged up quickly

i suppose that some players come with poor quality usb cables? and that people who are having battery charge problems should check out their cables and usb ports first - before resorting to a battery change

Nikki, Lithium polymer batteries actually prefer frequent 2 to 4 hour charges rather than running the battery dry and doing a full charge as this puts stress on the battery and can shorten its life. Sorry to hear you are still having probs though from memory your player is only about 2 weeks old.
Try hammering the seller for a replacement because what you are experiencing is not normal for these players.
