[solved] Add games to a player that doesn't have them?

Hi there, I'm rather new to all this and don't have an mp4 player just yet. Its still in the post. (its a nano clone mp4 player). it doesn't have any games built in but i was wondering that is it possible to add games to the mp4 player.
Thank you very much,
Kindest Regards,
Stig

Re: Can you add games to a player that doesn't already have

don't think so... you could probably flash the player with an other firmware, but to 99,9999999% it won't work on your player (and could destroy it). i just tried to get another firm on my nano clone, but none worked (but i could easily repair it by reflashing it with a backup of my firmware).

bluejackstig, I agree with theemp not possible to add games and not worth killing your player trying.

I would suggest making a backup of your FW before attempting to do what you're suggesting. While I don't think it's impossible to do, I do think it is very unlikely that you'll be able to do it. You'll need to find a FW which is similar to the one in your player which has the games. The use a program called easyFW to use bits from the fw with games in your fw without games....cobbling together a fw with all the features you want. I'm trying that with a fw i have, to fix some of the features i lost when i upgraded my fw....i'll keep you posted on my success & failures

Uncle_Chop_Chop, I have managed to transfer features between versions before but there is always something out for instance I managed to transfer four games to my 3 game player but the buttons did not work in the games. I managed to get file browsing once but the text was all screwed up. I added an extra 8 frames to the close animation but it still only played 8. I think the donor player must have the same button call config and layout as the recipient.

but there is software out there that will allow you to reconfigure your button setup. i'm not saying that it is easy to do by any stretch of the imagination, but i'm going to try since i have nothing to lose...i always keep a backup of the original FW now :D

Uncle_Chop_Chop, I know I have used it but it does not help when the buttons do not respond at all :(

I have 2 Nano clones that have the same FW yet each shows different games...
