AMV converter v. 3.68 "Virus"??

On the download page, i was going to download AMV converter 3.68. I was reading a few topics on the download from this week, and two of the sites members said that the version offered on this site has a trojan virus. Is this true. if it is, is their another location i can get this converter.

Thanks
Dansvob

dansvob, This seems to have only started happening over the last few weeks, some Antivirus software have started detecting part of the 3.68 install as a trojan. Apparently it does not matter where you download it from it is the same. If you are concerned I suggest you use one of the other versions. I have scanned it with BitDefender Security Suite and Avast Antivirus Pro and they both find it clean and admin has scanned it as well so i do not really know one way or another. It seems strange that it has had over 55,000 download over the last 6 months or so and the problem has only just started to happen.

Thanks for the reply. I will take your word that the download is good. I havent had any reason not to trust any of the downloads on this site.

Thanks,

dansov, I also just did a scan of my whole system at the Symantec on-line virus scan and that turned up nothing as well.

Trend Officescan detects a trojan in deldrv.exe which is contained in data1.cab. I'm pretty sure that is being misreported as a virus.
Easiest resolution is to download Version 4.0.
Otherwise, disable your virus scanner, extract and install the software. Then replace C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities 3.xx\DelDrv.exe with an empty text file before enabling your virus scanner. It isn't a critical file.

zakker1, It is the same no matter where you download it from. I don't think it is really a trojan but try 4.00, 4.03 or 3.57 they are all available in the Downloads>Tools section.

I had mine from my original cd-rom, and just recently Norton found it as a virus?

So what IS deldrv.exe? What does it do? With a name that sounds as though it is short for "Delete Drive" (which I wouldn't want to do!) suspicions are aroused

Re: AMV converter v. 3.68 "Virus"??

For information: AVG Free Edition reports deldrv.exe as a Trojan Virus.
I tried replacing it with an empty text file and did not notice any bad effects. Following the advice to try different versions I have attempted to uninstall the package. It fails, saying "There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.".

This looks to me like deldrv.exe is needed for the uninstall. That is why I want to know what it does. Has anybody successfully uninstalled MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 after having had deldrv.exe reported as a Trojan? I am extremely worried about the possible damage deldrv.exe COULD cause.

Please help!

Thanks,

Andy
