Competition: Redesign the "ranks" images
Hi everyone,
This will be the first competition for this site. I would like to run a competition to have the "ranks" images on this site redesigned to fit in with the purpose of this site - MPx (MP3/MP4) players. Everyone is invited to enter. Post some of your original designs here in this post. Then I will display all the entries and get everyone to vote for their favourite. The winner will have their design displayed on this site and win a prize (read further down). Hey guys, here is another entry, one last one that I have managed to squeeze in today. Since this forum is dedicated to helping us with using our mp4 or mp3 players then ofcourse we are all music enthusiasts, so this is what came to mind. Also, I designed it to be quite eyecatching so it will be more noticeable. Maybe ill make one last entry a little later on. Hope you guys like it, let me know!

Well here is my other entry. Im just throwing out as many ideas that come into my mind. This one shows a speaker or "loud speaker" with the volume increased or decreased (a similar graphic can be seen on some types of mp4 players and thats why i designed it that way) but basically as the ranks go up it shows that those who have a higher rank have more say as their volumes are louder. Hope you guys like it, it takes me a while to put my idea in image form so hopefully its appreciated. Thanks!

how about designing the favicon.ico in your root directory Binh? At the moment it looks like the PHPBB logo :lol: just a simple icon of a player would do. You might not see it on Internet Explorer but its on Firefox all the time, and will show up when you add it to your favourites. Just a word of advice

Hey Binh, I can make the favicon for you. Its quite simple, all you have to do is upload it into the root directory of the site and it will show up. As fizzle05 said, Firefox will display the favicon all the time, however for IE to display it you have to add the website to your favorites and then it will show up, but either way its a good idea. Ill try to put up a few favicon images by today.

Well i tried a few combinations for the favicon and some worked and some didnt - I tried the nano clones in both black and white however since the image size for a favicon is restricted to 16x16 the image appeared so small that it all just blended in. After trying a few different players I finally came across one that looked okay. I have uploaded a zip folder which includes: a larger favicon which also can be used which is 32x32 which is a lot better looking, an animated favicon in gif and png format and a readme file that indicates how to install both the regular favicon as well as the animated one.

Well heres another one, a modification of the equalizer one that I had - this one is better when compared to that one so here goes. I think im the only one participating - maybe ive already won ;) ..hehe..anyway check it out.

here is my part... I want to say I have not simply copied a picture, I have completely edited it myself. I have put a photo in the display and made the "pixel effect" on the display. The "Spammer" has a recycle bin in the display, buts that's not really seeable. I've got a tiny question... the images have to be the same size as the active ones or can have new sizes?
Because the ones posted here are all very beautiful, but I think they are not very suitable to have as a rank image... they make every post look very long and take a lot of screen (talking in a vertical way)..so I'd propose a fixed width & height to define as a standard... What do you think about that idea? I will make my images after knowing what the admin thinks... I'd like to have to scroll less :P |

No, yours is ok. I put it on the site to see how it fits and there are no scroll bars and the site doesn't disalign. We can discuss the details etc later if you win but it's just a matter of getting the entries is the most important thing. |

well, i already try to resize the image, but the "word " play me become very blur. the necklace a bit like mp4 player, rectangle shape. the cross above it like a mp4 button. well i wearing it now, but mine just silver and black colour only. i wish i can using it somehow as a mp4 player icon or rank . but most important i am attracted to the word "play me". Well here is another entry - my 5th entry actually that I decided to squeeze in before this contest ends. I basically did this as the other entries were done prior to the rules set by admin (although he did say that it was okay) but I still wanted another entry to be strictly based on the rules so I decided to do so. Max width and height were met, along with transparent gif. What i decided to do in this one was give the ranks a little pep up - I used transparency in the music symbols to show rank holders the rank that they would get if they advance to a higher rank and also used different colors for the Special rank holders.. they are special so they do get special treatment. Also i used the text that was previously like "Newbie" or "Keen on Mpx Players" and included that text within the image however came up with new titles! And i went ahead to add a more visible and stand-outish SPAMMER rank. This was kind of hard for me to do and it took me a while but I finally got it how I wanted it. So here goes - Let me know what you guys think.

I agree. I don't know why there is a "spammer" rank. It was just reset that's all. i've never seen it used and don't expect to use it as spammers will be disabled from this forum. Strange ah?? |
