Firmware Quest - Firmware Uploads

We are starting to get a great collection of Firmware on site (67) but we need more (200). Some members are unable to find the right versions to recover their players. As new player come along new firmware is needed and old firmware becomes harder to find.

If you have not uploaded your players firmware to site it would be a great help if you could.

For those who do not know how to backup their firmware you need to download s1fwx from HERE
There is a guide in the Knowledge Base to help you to use s1fwx HERE

To upload go to the downloads and select Uploads By Members and there is an upload button at the top of the page.

When you do upload your firmware if you could provide as much information on your firmware (version, Menu's, Boot and Shutdown Screens) and your player (LCD size, what it looks like, where the buttons, usb and audio sockets are positioned etc. even a link to a web picture would be great). this will help people find what they are looking for.

Think of it as Insurance if you upload a copy of your firmware to site it will always be here if you need it.

To those who have uploaded their firmware A BIG THANKYOU from all those who have recovered their players.

Re: Firmware Quest - Firmware Uploads

I wish I could upload my original firmware, but I'm like many others...I upgraded my firmware without making a dump of my original FW. I know of a few sites that have FW for download, if that helps at all....plus I have a pile that I downloaded while trying to recover my black screen chi-pod

Uncle_Chop_Chop, Did you recover your player in the end?
Any links woulld be appreciated.

Re: Firmware Quest - Firmware Uploads

Yeah I did manage to recover it, thanks to the guys at the s1mp3.org forums.....there is lots of firmware on that site, both full dumps and back up dumps. unfortunately for me, the fw that managed to restore my chi-pod didn't have all the features that my chipod had in the first place...i can live without the games, tel book and ebook function though

Uncle_Chop_Chop, I modded the version from s1mp3 that restored without the features you mention and managed to fix the problem HERE

Re: Firmware Quest - Firmware Uploads

:D Some more thankyou's to zest and jess.nz for adding to the firmware section, again most appreciated. 78 on site now.

If you have not uploaded your firmware to site it would be great if you could. To help others locate the firmware they need if you can include version information, screen size etc.

Thankyou All.

Hi everybody.

Maybe it is better if the users check also the board model, display model, chips installed and firmware version as show on setting.

I think this can help more users with dead player to find more easy the FW proper one.

I have a dead player and i still try for found a proper one, but it's not easy when you have only the simple info like as only a FW version.
Thanks for your attention..
Angelo
