Usb Cable

Hi,
Great forum and site, cheers.
I recieved my mp4 player today, but the usb cable I received is not the right size for the player. Does anyone know where I can buy a new cable? My connecter socket has a small dimple in the bottom left hand edge and five "stitches"down the center. It is not a usual mini usb b.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Eldiablo

Hey Eldiablo04, you might try to email the seller and ask them for a new USB cable as the seller should have provided you with a USB cable that works as the USB cable is used to charge the player as well as connect to the computer.

eldiablo04, Try a digital camera store or mobile phone store as some of their products may use the same cable for linking to PC.

I'm pretty sure that you need a 5-pin mini USB cable, as opposed to the "usual" 4-pin mini USB.

If you can't find one from the other sources mentioned, eBay has a ton of them listed here.

Actually, there are quite a few different styles of mini-type USB connectors around - I know of at least 3 different kinds of 4-pin alone! It can be a pain trying to find the right one for a specific device, and you never seem to have the right connector when you need it. And, of course, my teenage stepson has somehow managed to misplace the oddball cable for every device we've ever owned - digital cameras, MP4's, Palm's...

Being a computer tech, I finally broke down and bought a 9-Piece USB Adapter Kit for about $10. This covers most situations - problem solved.

Now if I can just get my stepson to find the adapters of mine that he borrowed the other day... :)

best,
JohnB
