What version of the MP3 Player Utilities are you using?

I've found sometimes I get this problem too. I just have to keep retrying. Best thing to do is once you open the upgrade tool, WAIT for a minute to make sure it doesn't 'drop' the device again then do the upgrade. Try not to do the upgrade too quickly otherwise it might drop out during the firmware upgrade which could cause you more problems.

Also try restarting your computer as well in case it's a Windows thing. .

Let me know the result.

I cant open G it says its not formatted.

It doesnt affect what files i put on it, but I would like to custimize the frimware some more =p. Im using MP3 Player Utilities 3.68.

Do you have any other versions of the MP3 Utilities installed on your computer?

Try plugging your USB cable from your player into another port in your computer instead.

Then try using the "Update Tool" and see if you get a disconnect again.

If you use the same firmware you had modified with the Spawn bootup image, it should work.

Take note of the display that comes up when you open the Update Tool and check to make sure it saids the SAME VERSION of firmware on the player and on the firmware file.
