Default New Player Review!

Recently I received TSINGHUA TONGFANG PMC-V320 Mp4 player in Black. Its a 1GB Player with a 2.0" TFT Color Screen and a 1GB Capacity expandable by MiniSD and even sports an external speaker along with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack - hard to find in some of the nano clone mp4's.

FEATURES: VIDEO, AUDIO, PICTURE, TEXT, GAME, VOICE RECORDER, EXPLORER.

Navigation
Navigation on the player is done through a 5 direction "joystick" which as I have noticed is very easy to use. Its the right size and its not too small so its actually very easy to handle and use. Works quite well with the player.

Screen & Audio/Video Playback
I was highly impressed from the get-go. The black player really stands out and with an impressive 220 x 176 resolution the quality is quite amazing - the screen also at a nice 2 inches takes up approx 2/3 of the real estate of the player. Due to the high resolution and large screen the image quality is absolutely stunning - a clear, crisp and vibrant color display. The player plays video in the avi file format along with real media (.rm) and mp4 file formats making it very easy to play your favorite media on the player without too much of a hassle - the CD comes with a AVI converter that converts any video format to avi and even adjusts the resolution as necessary making it even easier. The video playback is absolutely amazing - video is ofcourse very crisp and clear but navigating through the video is also great - fast forwarding and rewinding are a breeze with a TiVo like bar that displays how much more video is left to play. Also, this player does handle framerates of 29.97fps unlike the nano clones which may handle 12fps or 16fps and that too with some blurring or ghosting. As for the Audio part of it - it handles your regular mp3 and wma formats (only ones ive tried) and it supports lyrics (.lrc format) as well. Audio playback was highly enhanced with the players built in equalizer as well as 7 EQ settings including a 3D sound playback which made the audio playback highly enjoyable. Oh, before I forget to mention, The player does support folders inside of folders and has a filebrowser making it very easy to pick your favorite song. Best of all the new chip supports multitasking, so you can listen to your music and play a game or even read a book on the player - quite nifty and very impressive. The player also has a really crisp speaker on the back which is a nice touch - and I have noticed that the speaker doesnt have any distortion even at high volumes which is excellent.

USB Transfer & Playback Times
With its High Speed USB 2.0 Connection the player transmits file to and fro the computer at really fast speeds. The high powered battery provides for 7 hours of continuous playback of music and 5 hours of continuous video playback. It also has many powersaving features like a dedicated PowerSave mode, Brightness adjustment and even a screen off feature. The new firmware really makes the entire system quite pleasant to operate - as everything moves smoothly and the response time is swift.

Other Features
Other features include:
Photo Viewer - The Photo Viewer is quite nice, it has a slideshow function and obviously the fact that the screen is bigger and is TFT makes the pictures jump out and is also an excellent feature.
Text Reader - A very nice feature, The text reader is just like notepad and has a scroll bar on the side which can be moved up and down using the joystick and also sports a BOOKMARK which allows you to make a bookmark at a particular point in the text and come back later and continue on from that point which is a great touch as you dont have to keep scrolling back and forth figuring out where you left off. The idea that you can listen to music while you read is also an added touch.
Voice Recorder - The Voice recorder is quite a nice feature also. Ive noticed that the mic is a lot more powerful so its good for someone not too close to you and Ive noticed that audio quality is also a lot better due to that fact.
Navigation - This is like your explorer function, this allows you to see every file on the player or on the MiniSD and lets you select it and play it. This way you can play video, audio, view pictures or read text through one "explorer"
Game - The player does have a game which is Tetris, and you can listen to music while you play so thats good.
Settings - The same old, settings menu allows you to adjust your recording, music playback, screen (brightness, powersave), Clock, etc.

bsaylors, nice find, I like that you can play music while doing other tasks. Do you know what chipset it is running? The user interface looks a bit Sunplus.

this player use ROCKCHIP .. thats why it can play avi file. N most of the player that use this chip come with 2.0' screen. No below that. The biggest screen so far is 2.2' screen. N the avi file use xvid codec for video n mp2 codec for audio. So the quality of the video very good n the sound is stereo.

No this one doesnt come with FM but its not too much of a bummer considering I have another player that does have FM and mainly I use this for videos and music and pictures.

Hi I'm new here, but I'm glad to found this site.
Anyway, I have similar player like the one above but a bit different controller.
Mine is Sundisk SD-202. It has the same features as the above player and has the exact interface.
The box have website (www.Sundisk-it.com) but then the website is no longer registered.
This player seems to have many names/brands.
They are all exact models. I've seen Sundisk, Tsinghua, MSI (fake), SONY, Some other chinese company.

I bought this player in China and it seems that this is the latest ChipType (RockChip) being used on Mini PMP (or known as MP4 Player in China). 8 out of 10 players I've tried in the store (differrent models) had the same capabilities and exact interface. The variance are the models, LCD Size and FM features, some have FM some don't and in my case I don't.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to alter the interface and the Intro/Entro of this player.
I've tried the S1MP3 tools, but it wouldn't detect my player.

I got the CD from the player package, but I believe it only contains the Rock Chip flash upgrader with Giberish language and a Video converter that convert most video format to AVI (XVID) 220x176Pixels.

Overall this player is a neat little thing, but it'll be great if I can costumize my own Intro/Entro and its interface.

Any info will be greatly apreciated.
My Photo will be uploaded in the gallery once the Admin approved it.

Thanks in advance.
