When I click on the Samsung link, at Samsung I cant find the Nand flash sizes and serial numbers.

Does anyone know the link to them for Samsung?

ashley_rb, There is no list of serials and sizes on the Samsung site but you could try a part number search on the site.
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semi...lash/index.htm

or there is a part number decoder that explains the serial number here:

My player just arrived today, "4GB" but after formatting is 1GB , for Aus$41 it's still bloody good, will complain but the user is no longer registered so don't know how much luck I'll have.

Have pulled it apart just to double-check, and the only number I can see doesn't correspond to any of those here. It's a Samsung chip, number FEL238BBC. There's one of those "checked on" type markers over the top, so it may be hidden under that, but doesn't appear to be a sticker as such.

Any confirmation would be appreciated. I'm 99% sure it's "only" 1GB, but just want to double-check.

I honestly wouldn't have thought twice about paying what I did for 1GB, 4GB for the same price was just a bonus, but alas that bonus is no more . Don't know why they don't just sell them as what they are and save everyone the hassles.

PS. Will be posting a guide to converting stuff to AMV on my site in the future, info I couldn't particularly find in one spot, such as flv (youtube etc) to amv, DVD to AMV... In particular, getting the aspect ratios correct.

RoGuE_STreaK, The number is most likely beneath the QC label. The numbers you have quoted are secondary information to do with batch identification etc.

Yep, it's an K9K8G08U0M, so 1GB.
At least I was prepared for it, quite happy with a working 1GB for $40, but now to figure out how to complain in a way which may get me some money back to sweeten the deal...

pmilladcs, there are heaps of different serials but the two inportant characters are the 4th and 5th on the Samsung chips and the 9th nad 10th on the Hynix chips which denote the memory density which in your case is AG or 16 Gigabit or 2 GigaByte.
