Not all serials are listed but the following will apply to all chips:

On Samsung chips the 4th & 5th characters denote the memory denstiy as follows:

K9X1GXXXXX = 1 Gigabit or 128MB
K9X2GXXXXX = 2 Gigabit or 256MB
K9X4GXXXXX = 4 Gigabit or 512MB
K9X8GXXXXX = 8 Gigabit or 1GB
K9XAGXXXXX = 16 Gigabit or 2GB
K9XBGXXXXX = 32 Gigabit or 4GB

On Hynix Chips the 9th and 10th characters denote the memory density as follows:

HYXXXXXX1GXX = 1 Gigabit or 128MB
HYXXXXXX2GXX = 2 Gigabit or 256MB
HYXXXXXX4GXX = 4 Gigabit or 512MB
HYXXXXXX8GXX = 8 Gigabit or 1GB
HYXXXXXXAGXX = 16 Gigabit or 2GB
HYXXXXXXBGXX = 32 Gigabit or 4GB

Re: Samsung and Hynix Nand Flash Sizes and Serial Numbers

hey all...

I have a Black ipod clone... I checked the Samsung device serial number and the samsung site says that its like a 16 GB card, but the seller sold it as a 2. Also, i tried to put alot of music on it and then it became corrupted...which happens to Fake cards. Why would they put a 16 in...and sell it as a 2 ?

And what is this number? It is on another chip inside the player...with a squiggly I or H above it:ATJ2081N

K9G8G08U0M
PC80

i would get the one for new 2gb's but i cant open it cus sellin as brand new
