hey all...

I have a Black ipod clone... I checked the Samsung device serial number and the samsung site says that its like a 16 GB card, but the seller sold it as a 2. Also, i tried to put alot of music on it and then it became corrupted...which happens to Fake cards. Why would they put a 16 in...and sell it as a 2 ?

And what is this number? It is on another chip inside the player...with a squiggly I or H above it:ATJ2081N

PleXo 29th Dec 2006 2:23 pm

Samsung 643
K9G8G08U0M
PC80
in latest Nano Clones and is a 1gigabyte

i would get the one for new 2gb's but i cant open it cus sellin as brand new

OK guys...update from Last....

MY exact chip says:

SAMSUNG 646

K9LAG08U0M PCBO

tadad1 29th Dec 2006 3:15 pm

johncyz, I just updated the list at the bottom are the density codes. Yours is an "AG" so the chips capacity is 8 Gigabit or 1GB.
Here are a couple of posts that will help you check and fix the problem.

Ok thanks.... I had that wrap around problem, and now it wont let me upload or take corrupted files off. How can I do this? Also, what does firmware do?

arviverona 29th Dec 2006 8:31 pm

thanks tatad1 for posting this i was looking for this for a while..thanks it really helped a lot on my research..thnx

tadad1 29th Dec 2006 8:38 pm

johncyz, Firmware is the operating system of your player much like Windows is to your PC.
Not a good idea to try upgrading or changing firmware as it is the quickest way to brick your player.
Use "lattesurf's" excellent guide to fix your hacked chip and fix your file problems.

Major Problem...my computer will not recognize the player. How can I get it to?

tadad1 31st Dec 2006 4:57 pm

johncyz, If your player is working ok then try a differrent USB port or the USB cable may be faulty in which case you need to find another to try.

Hello johncyz, don't worry 16GigaBits are equal to 2GigaBytes (8Bites = 1Byte)

Somebody know where i can buy an 1gbyte hynix flash chip, so i can upgrade my mp4 player

HY27UT084G2M = 512MBytes

How to read the hynix codes.
http://www.hynix.com/eng/02_products...ND%20Flash.pdf
Remember that it is bits not bytes.

When I click on the Samsung link, at Samsung I cant find the Nand flash sizes and serial numbers.

Does anyone know the link to them for Samsung?

tadad1 15th Jan 2007 11:18 pm

ashley_rb, There is no list of serials and sizes on the Samsung site but you could try a part number search on the site.
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semi...lash/index.htm

or there is a part number decoder that explains the serial number here:
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semi...Nand_Flash.pdf

other menings of the characters

and if your techie enough to feed you techie mind.or maybe just a curious person..you may want to look at the other meanings of the characters at the chip..check this one,..

Re: Samsung and Hynix Nand Flash Sizes and Serial Numbers

My player just arrived today, "4GB" but after formatting is 1GB :( , for Aus$41 it's still bloody good, will complain but the user is no longer registered so don't know how much luck I'll have.

Have pulled it apart just to double-check, and the only number I can see doesn't correspond to any of those here. It's a Samsung chip, number FEL238BBC. There's one of those "checked on" type markers over the top, so it may be hidden under that, but doesn't appear to be a sticker as such.

Any confirmation would be appreciated. I'm 99% sure it's "only" 1GB, but just want to double-check.

I honestly wouldn't have thought twice about paying what I did for 1GB, 4GB for the same price was just a bonus, but alas that bonus is no more . Don't know why they don't just sell them as what they are and save everyone the hassles.

PS. Will be posting a guide to converting stuff to AMV on my site in the future, info I couldn't particularly find in one spot, such as flv (youtube etc) to amv, DVD to AMV... In particular, getting the aspect ratios correct.

tadad1 2nd Feb 2007 1:29 am

RoGuE_STreaK, The number is most likely beneath the QC label. The numbers you have quoted are secondary information to do with batch identification etc.

RoGuE_STreaK 2nd Feb 2007 5:08 pm

Re: Samsung and Hynix Nand Flash Sizes and Serial Numbers

Yep, it's an K9K8G08U0M, so 1GB.
At least I was prepared for it, quite happy with a working 1GB for $40, but now to figure out how to complain in a way which may get me some money back to sweeten the deal...

tadad1 2nd Feb 2007 9:49 pm

Who did you buy it off?

pmilladcs 2nd Feb 2007 10:38 pm

mine's not on the list
it's a k9lago8uon

tadad1 2nd Feb 2007 10:45 pm

pmilladcs, there are heaps of different serials but the two inportant characters are the 4th and 5th on the Samsung chips and the 9th nad 10th on the Hynix chips which denote the memory density which in your case is AG or 16 Gigabit or 2 GigaByte.

pmilladcs 2nd Feb 2007 11:30 pm

when u say "gigabyte" u mean by memory right?
i think so....just making sure

Bought off buy.mall!, who would appear to be one of the more notorious ones on the blacklist (the things we find out after a purchase...), and who is now no longer a registered user!

I didn't know a thing about the scam, and didn't delve too deeply into his feedback, just saw the 98.5+% feedback and read a few pages in, seemed OK, but alas... Only came across the scam when looking for info on the avm format.

Also saw when I had the player apart that it only has a 200mAh battery, the manual says 400-500mAh. Though there was nothing in the ad that said about battery size, so... any thoughts on how long 200mAh will play for?

pmilladcs, yep, tadad1 means you have a player with 2gigabytes of memory.

tadad1 3rd Feb 2007 12:17 am

RoGuE_STreaK , I have a nano clone with a 2oomAh battery and it returns between 5 and 6 hours playtime but this can very depending on what settings you are using. LCD type, EQ settings, volume setting, earphones and how well the firmware is programmed will all effect the battery life. The manuals are generally generic and sent out with many different players as are the mini cd's so it is not unusual for them to contain info that is not relevant to your player.

buy.mall! as you say is one of the bigger scammers so he will be fluent in giving you the run around.
I would suggest be persistant and not give in to his initial offers which will no doubt be measely. If you go via PayPal and eBay be sure to inundate them with pages of information on hacked players, your personal findings and other feed back from his buyers. Just as a test I would also suggest that you visit the petition I set up and copy all the comments left buy those that have signed the petition regarding buy.mall! and even link them to the petition. It will be interesting to see how they respond to this :)

Meanwhile I go nuts... but at the www.hynix website tadad1 info is the one found

lattesurf 16th Sep 2007 2:13 am

zerio , there's probably a typo or confusion due to the large list of numbers.
The Hynix HY27UFO81G2A is a 1Gigabit, 128MegaByte chip.

zerio 16th Sep 2007 2:33 am

HI Lattersurf

Hi All
New member just got stuffed with one of these 4gig mp3, my chip is a HY27UT088G2M which is a 1gig so have got on to the seller,be interesting what he has to say I also had 2 virus's on the player as well.

I bought mine before I read up on this scam there must be hundreds of these things being sold can't understand how it is being allowed to go on for so long
Update on this post and I have done 3 formats with various software that I have and some from the members and my disk is showing 4gig (strange)

Norman

Norman-R 1st Nov 2007 7:40 am

Hi
Can someone help why mine is showing 4gig but the chip is a 1gig as my previous post formated 3 times and the last one was done with ANAPOD REINTIALIZER.
Also done with ANAREINT_100.

I have contacted the seller and he wants a screen shot but as I said it is showing 4gig even with the formats.

Norman
