The one I reviewed is still the top of my list for quality and performance, the only thing I have done to it is replace the 230 mAh battery with a 400 mAh one that increased play time from 8 to 11 hours.
Unfortunatly as the same cases are used by many different manufacturers players can look the same on the outside and have totally different internals, so reviews and photos are not very helpful. Even buying the same player from the same seller does not mean you will get the same specs.
The biggest problem with chiPods is there is no way of telling what quality the components will be unlike iPod, Meizu and other brand name players that are made to exacting specifications and build standards but cost 2 sometimes 3 times more.
My suggestion is be a bit selective, and pay a bit more. Some of the new players emerging have 2.0 inch screens and use replaceable mobile phone batteries.
Generally you will find that manufacturers who are prepared to invest in new casing designs, upgrades to screen size, newer chipset (some of the newer ones use Action CTW500 and Rockchips) batteries etc are going to turn out a better quality product than the guy who is buying the cheapest mass produced components he can get and throwing together nano clones in his garage.
Here is an example off a local auction site,
You will notice the photos are not retouched, you are seeing the real screen image, a poor quality screen will not photograph this well in these light conditions. Firmware design is tastefull, 2.0 inch 260K LCD, will use a Nokia phone battery. Time money and effort have been put into producing this player it will most likely last longer and perform better and it is only $20 - $30 more expensive than a nano clone.
Thats my 2 cents.
