Default I bought a mp4 player!

hey every1!!
i just found out about this site and it ROX!!! I just wish i had found out about this site b4 i bought my mp4 plyr couple of days ago. I bought this: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...GBR-01&cat=MP3
^^ does any1 have of knows of this plyr? did i make a good choice?
if there are custom themes and/or firmware plz point me in the right direction.

even though im still waiting for it in the mail, i have bein getting ready things to put on it. i have a big problem w/ videos.

the plyr supporst asf so i have tried millions of asf converters to try to convert my videos. i found one that works really well but the video it converts has video and audio that are not well synced.

the other video codec it supporst is amv, so i tried to do that. i googled some things and links after links it lead me to this site. i have tried the amv converter and converted some of my videos. 1 thing i noticed: amv is a horrible video codec. asf was a much more efficient codec and made better videos less than twice the size of AMV videos.

so yea im rly confused with the video... i would like to know how u guys manage to get good videos on ur plyr.

HymenBuster, It appears to be a standard 1.5 inch chiPod but I see no mention of ASF format in the specs but mentions AMV so I would suspect you will need to use AMV format. What is the problem with your AMV Conversions?

lol wtf, is this the same player?
i thought this is the company site: http://www.bayconsumer.com/m400.htm

amv is a horrible codec, and it doesnt have any audio options right? on the website i bought it at said: "MPEG4 support and AMV format for animation files available"
maybe i could use mp4? in the last couple of hours i figured out how to make right asf videos combining a tutorial on this site and my converter. so hopefully the players can play asf.

too bad i bought it b4 i found about this site: http://www.uxcell.com/uxcell/retail/...php?stream=mp3

B-U-M-P

i have couple more questions:

1: take a look at my avatar and the site where i bought my "ChiPOD" and do u think i can install some of the firmwares/themes from this site?

2: do these plyrs support WMA VBR? cuz most of my music is in that format.

3: how does the playr manage music files? do i have to make my own folders, it doesnt just sort ur music by itself like my zen micro?

4: this plyr says it has duo stereo headjacks. does that mean i i can plug 2 earphones into the plyr? does it affect the sound quality when im only using one earphone?

---I'm still waiting for the mp4 plyr in the mail and i cant wait to get it.

thx for all ur help, i love u guys in the straightest way possible.

edit* OMFG!!!! 2 mins after this post fedex rang my doorbell and there was my mp4 plyr!!!! this site is sooo lucky!!!

HymenBuster
Wellcome to the wonderfull world of MPX players. And now to answer ur questions:

1 - YES you can use any theme that u like on this site for ur MPX player ( as long it is made for 1.5'' screen). Now, about the firmware YOU SHOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE ABOUT MPX PLAYERS: ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR EXISTING FIRMWARE BEFOURE INSTALING A NEW ONE. This is becouse a wrong firmware WILL screw up ur player if not permanintly destroy it. Changing the firmware in 90% of the cases WON'T give you ANY new features on ur player and WILL screw it up. For more info refer to the FIRMWARE forum. I recommend for u just to use your own firmware and use s1res to modify ur theme.

2 - YES the players support WMA, but some of them don't display the ID Tags properly when playind a WMA song. I reccomed using MP3. (After all this IS an MP3 player, right? )

3 - Unfortinatly you have to make ur own folders (As far as I know). The players simply arranges the songs in the order in which they were copied to it.

4 - About the dual stereo: It simply means that the player supports STEREO SOUND. ( lol. I've never heard of a player that has two earphone jacks) And YES it DOES affect sound quality becouse by using only one earphone (lets say the left one) you will not be able to hear the part of the music that is playing on the right earphone (Maybe the rythm guitar or a supporting vocal etc. That is why they call it stereo, you know )

P.S. And btw about the AMV format. Yes it is a bad format but it DOES support audio. This option of the player would be useless if it didn't.

Cheers
