Re: which one is better?

I would get the first pic, because its cheaper, but if you want MP4 that looks like a iPod nano then go with the second pic, it doesn't really matter which one you get, because they both have the same firmware and screens are the same size, but if I where you just get the first pic.

*edit*
or maybe go with this, bigger screen, aroudn the same price range, and looks nicer than the first pic you have here.

Re: which one is better?

I have both players.

Looking at the screenshot photos, it looks like they use the same chipset board, so the functions are the same.

The only real difference is then is the price and the 'look' of the player.

From having both players, I can recommend the second, black one. The first grey/silver one is good, but too thick. The black one is more slimmer and (check) with a metal backing. It looks very close to a Nano too.

However, I've noticed the price is more expensive for the second black one.

But yeh, that's my recommendation.
Hope is of some use.

Re: which one is better?

To me, the thickness may be an advantage. All the really thin ones use non-standard .25mm cellphone sockets. Many of the thicker ones use the standard .35mm mini-headphone sockets.

The earbud headphones on most chiPods are crap. I just throw them away and use a quality headphone instead.

Yes, there are .25mm to .35mm adapters you can buy for the thinner chiPods, but they are not a very good solution to a problem you can avoid.

Re: which one is better?

hey! thanks for your answers! if both players are the same in software... then I think I'll prefer the first one, i like it most... I prefer it with a regular headphone jack... and with a more unique look than just a nano...

Now I think you can change the battery if they go wrong?

Im surprised of the difference of price of this things here and in the USA

the first one cost $38.900 chilean pesos that's US$74... for just 1 gig..

anyway... thanks!...

I think I'll learn to modify the graphics with this one and give one as a gift to a girl that I like with some special graphics haha, what you think bout that?

Re: which one is better?

Sorry all for the language but it's better for my connational...
..

do you know where can I find one of the seconds cheaper?

Re: [solved] which one is better?

Search in internet for the site I mentioned for the earphones... www.evolta.cl, I didn't see a s1mp3 of 1 gb of screen 1.5... just 1.8 which of course is better but a bit more expensive. $ 45.000 (US$ 82.)
The best is that is a established store and they can guarantee their products.
Anyway, in deremate or mercadolibre are lots of offers.
Good luck

coke,

Let us know what you ended up buying.

Would love to hear a review from you when you get it.

Re: [solved] which one is better?

I really want the first one, cause is cooler and it has normal headphones input... but the bid is finished, and they had it at a very good price... ($35.000)

but today I got the chance of using the black one and is very good too, and I found the adapters that are very cheap, one thing i didn't like was the volume very low! I think i won't hear it on the subway...

so I'll go for the cheaper one available... (if the guy of the first one doesn't answer, I'll go for the second one)

do you have any recommendation cause I'll go to the shop to pick it up and I inted to test it before buying... maybe there are some that sound softer than others? what are the common failures?

of course I'll report which one I pick and what was my experience...

thanks!

coke,

Try to get one with an ACTIONS chipset. There are Sigmatel as well as Sunplus chips also out there. The Actions one can easily be modified and there are lots of tools available for it.

The easiest way to tell if it's an ACTIONS chip is ask if it plays .AMV (or the older .MTV) video files?

If it plays anything else such as .SMV or .ASF, then it's not the Actions chip instead and you can't modify it as much as the Actions one can.

coke 7th Nov 2006 6:17 am

ok, thanks for the tip!

I think they play .AMV so is ok

DaremoS 7th Nov 2006 5:02 pm

Re: [solved] which one is better?

This version of 3.5.37 have file browser and plays .AMV and .OGG... beside the normal mp3 and wma

admin 7th Nov 2006 11:17 pm

Not all 3.5.37 firmware players can play OGG though. It seems some have been modified specifically to play OGG.

Re: [solved] which one is better?

Hey, welcome my new mp4 player haha

a ended buying the second one but here http://spdigital.cl/sitio.php?seccio...ccion=ver&id=8

these are the cheap place I could find, and they gave a free rubber protector for the player...

so now my player has a non-standar look..

It was $70 dollars for a 1,5" screen and 1GB of memory...

how do I back up my firmware???

another question.. how can i boost the volume of my videos?

now Im cool, I have an mpx haha

8)

coke 12th Nov 2006 2:59 pm

Ok... my mp4 is broken... haha

the phone jack has a problem cause sometimes I can't hear from one side... the same with other headphones... so I'll have to go for the warranty...

I hope I can have a replacement fast...

I won't be able to live a day without my 500Mb of AMV videos

haha

crappy chinese hardware :(

DaremoS 12th Nov 2006 3:12 pm

In Chile we know clearly what is to live with chinese stuff, too many have to be replaced after short time.
Happily the mp3 (Hitech) and mp4 (eGital & Fujitel) that we have at home have survived.
Happily too that you go to a established store... let us know how it goes that of the guarantee

t.powley 13th Nov 2006 3:57 am

Here is asimple guide to backing up your firmware

http://www.mympxplayer.org/please-up...ay-vt1829.html

Once you have done that please post it with all the information about your player

coke 20th Nov 2006 12:06 pm

So I went last monday to the shop to make them fix it or change it...

they tested the player in the site and they saw that was broken, so they changed my player without questions, they even gave me a free pair of new phones cause they know that the 2,5" are very hard to find.

Very good for the www.spdigital.cl guys....

If you want to buy something in Chile, I recommend them...

admin 21st Nov 2006 1:23 am

coke,

To backup your firmware, it's best to look at the "Knowledge Base" section on this site. There is a link on the left hand side menu bar.

Boosting the volume, you will need to look at using another program to increase the volume of the original video file before converting it as the AMV Convert Tool doesn't have that option. You can use "PocketDivxEncoder" to do this. It's available in our "Downloads" area under the "Tools" section.

Good luck and welcome to the club of MPx users :)
