Feedback wanted on hacked players.
I noticed with a hacked player I recently had that when I ran the MP3 Player Disk Tool which is part of MP3 Player Utilities that on the Format tab the hacked capacity is shown but on the Partition Encrypt tab the true chip capacity is shown.

Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
This could be done by any MP4 owner. There may be some owners with hacked players and they don't even know it. This is a great way to find out!

Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
Just to let you know that this works. My player accepted 4GB of file transfers but would not play all the files. The actual size was as shown on the format tool.

carl,
If that is the case then it is a 1GB chip. These players can only support a maximum 2GB. If it were a true 4GB it would show 4GB in both tabs. In this post I loaded 3GB to a hacked 4GB that had a 2GB chip. The last gig of MP3's was corrupt. http://mympxplayer.org/hotmale1616-s...nz-vt2786.html You can check the chip serial here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/samsung-a...rs-vt1692.html |
Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
hmmmm....Didnt know there was any 4GB chips yet?
Only one way to find out if it a true 4GB, open her up & post the chips barnd & serial number |
tadad,
just like you said, in format tab - my mp4 player showed 1 gb. but in partition and encrypt - it showed 233 mb and after following the dehacking method, it was indeed only 233 mb |

Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
Hi there,
I was wondering is there any way of compressing the memory like we were able to do in the good old days of floppy's (lol) where they could be compressed using drivespace and the compressed sapce was usable. Also how come these so called compressed chips cannot hold what the compression says they could. Surely there must be a way of making a usable compressed chipdrive through some firmware. |
Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
Hello, the compression used by disk tools was based en compression algorithms but the data what we store in the player's memory already are compressed and no one other algorithm give you more compression. so sorry i don't think will be practical add compression algorithm to firmware of player...

Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
Thanks so much for this info. It has cleared up both the hacked players we have (yeah... suckers twice over!). They function just as they should and at least our 2GB are 1GB!

This site was very helpful with getting my two (yes I was conned twice) player to work correctly. One of them as only 1GB the other 2GB after being "unhacked" ( is that a word). Keep up the good work. |
so cant we get a bigger samsung at chip and use flux and a heatgun and increase our memory ourself?
|
Pimped , it is possible to be done. However, you will need to take note of the older chip's pinouts and the pinouts of the new chip to be installed. They need to be the same.
More information on doing this can be found here http://wiki.s1mp3.org/index.php/How_..._a_memory_chip |
tadad1, yes mine showed the two different results when I first got it, 4GB (roughly) in the "format" tab, 1GB (roughly) in the "partition" tab. After following the reformat instructions, this all went to 1GB, and yes the chip itself has been verified as 1GB.

Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
Hi,
after having removed the memory hack, my 8GigaByte (7,9GB) turned out to be a 233mb player  thanks for all the info in this forum. Rath0r |
Re: Feedback wanted on hacked players.
I checked my player but there's something not right about the instructions on this thread.
I reformatted my player and on the disk utlitly "format" screen I have 233MB showing but on the partition screen it says 1946MB. So according the instructions in this thread, because the numbers don't match on the 2 screens I have a hack. But Wait: Someone said to open the player and check the chip. So I did and its a samsung AG. So I checked the serial numbers list posted at the forum, http://www.mympxplayer.org/samsung-a...rs-vt1692.html and it says the chip with AG in the serial number is 2GB. So one person is saying because the numbers don't match in the disk utiltiy programs "format" screen and "partitiion tab" screen, I have a hack. But the guide on this forum with the chip serial numbers says my player has a 2GB chip. Who's right? |
