Importing From China
hey guys i have just been reading up on UK importing from china for these mpx players media players all that stuff
anyways im trying to setup like a "guide" for people here wanting to buy their products from china i have been researching customs for importing to UK and have found this on a PDF on the revenue website I have been charged VAT and duty for goods bought over the Internet, why is this? Any goods purchased from outside the EC are liable for duty and in some cases VAT. If you have been sent a gift and the value is under £36 you will not be liable, over that amount you will be charged depending on the product. For purchases bought by yourself with a value over £18 you may have to pay duty depending on product; it may also be liable to VAT. Under that amount you will not be liable. if your too lazy to read this basicly it means as follows any products imported that are declared under £18.00GBP will not be charged VAT, IMPORT TAX or clearance fees etc etc. BUT If the product imported is declared under £36.00GBP and is marked as a gift, you will NOT be charged any import tax etc etc. This information was found at http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsP...CE_PROD_008654 IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON ANY OTHER CUSTOMS LAWS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD PLEASE POST HERE. i will be glad to help out anyone that can help me find out the information on other countries PLEASE DO NOT: post saying "i got charged $30 for an item declared as $50" thats NO help at all |

For The Netherlands:
add 19% VAT (BTW) + 4,7% import tax, over the item price + postage fee. Anything below 50 Euro is likely NOT to be subject to these charges, I never paid anything for items up to $60 in value. The costs of collecting/administrating these fees, makes customs reluctant to charge for small items. |
