Default Case recommendations for a Nano?

Well, I finally got a Nano clone (2GB), from a Hong Kong seller on eBay (ellieshang), with a 99.3% rating on over 20,000 feedbacks! Given the piss poor feedback records of the hong kong Nano clone sellers I recently viewed on eBay, that's probably the best I've seen. Got it for only $32US, which is a good deal even for a 2gb MP3 player, so there -is- bargains to be had.... (if its a 2GB, but I haven't seen complaints about bogus players in this seller's feedback...).

Anyway! Need a case for it now....

SILICONE: Silicone seems the most popular choice, but I wanna be sure I do it right the first time. Nano clone silicone cases are great, but they dont seem to offer much in the way of protection.

HARD CASES: I'm thinking a hard plastic or aluminum case may be -too- hard, and not absorb impact of a fall. Plastic is hard to drill without cracking, if I have to modify it, since there are no Nano clone hard cases I know of. Aluminum may or may no be possible to drill proper openings for.

LEATHER: A bit between the above two, its harder than silicon so may offer more protection from flexing. But softer on impact than hard plastic or aluminum, so may offer protection from drops. After reviewing numerous leather cases, I like the one I seen on ebay below, but its for a first gen iPod Nano, so I don't know if the size of the case is different than that of a Nano clone, or if the thumbwheel fits in a different place? Anyone know, or can tell me if I can modify this case to fit a clone?

Any general thoughts or opinions on case types for my Mp4?

michiganjfrog , ipod nano cases do not fit the these nano-clones.
1. Ipod Nanos are 1.2" screens, nano-clones are of 1.5" or 1.8".
2. The keypad is lower on nano-clones, so the keypad cutting for ipod nano cases will be out.
Basically, any casings made for original Ipod Nanos do not fit.

If you want a silicon case, Uxcell.com sells them. I bought mine from them not long ago, fits perfectly and comes with the armband, and lanyard.
Though eBay sells them, but the sellers are very few.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Well, I knew I would have to do some modifications to non-silicone cases. I'm holding off from getting silicone because I don't think it protects very much. I don't see the player doing well from a drop at waist height in a silicone case. The leather cases have extended corners that can absorb a good deal of the impact (usually, the corner of a unit is the first to hit the ground).

Aluminum and plastic would indeed be hard to modify if the keyppad has shifted, but I figure I could cut a bigger hole in the leather in the ipod nano (1st gen) case to properly access the nano clone keypad. Cutting a bigger hole for the larger screen of the nano clone would be even easier, of course. But I'm not sure how easy either mod is...

Are you saying you have a silicone case and it doesn't do anything to protect the player? If so, then I will just look at the other options. I don't care about "showing off my player", I care about having a player to show off! You seem to be saying they're not that weak if you drop them, but Ive read plenty of cases where people have damanged nano clones from dropping them or scratched the screen. I think a few bucks for a good case is worth protecting your investment.

On the other hand, Ive seen eBay sellers selling italian leather fashion cases for the nano, that are claimed to retail for $230US (selling for only 44US). It may be overkill to buy a case that costs more than the player its meant to protect.
