rockchip mp4 player -- questions!

hey guys! first of all, very nice and informative site. i really wanted to buy an MP3 player, and through careful consideration and with the help of ur site, i decided to buy this:

http://www.pinoyexpo.com/cl_upload/22969010-4.jpg

I got the 1GB version and it works like a charm. I followed the steps in this site to make sure that the memory is not hacked, and fortunately it isnt. I was able to use the full capacity of the device and im really happy! I do have a few questions, and i think it has not yet been discussed in this forum. Hope someone can help me or point me to the right direction. here goes:

1] I believe that this is based in the Rockchip and the latest version of s1fwx (ver3.0/3.1) cannot detect it yet. Any other way(s) on how to modify the themes?

2] I loaded it with MP3s, but the ID3 tags do not appear. I tried ID3v1 but it only displays the Artist info. I tried ID3v2 and it displays gibberish info. I deleted all the tags and it just displays the filename. I was able to make the ID3 tags work on a "nano" look alike by using ID3v1, but on this particular MP4 i am stuck. Any ideas?

3] I found out that the player doesnt support AMV, only AVI encoded with xvid. The AVConverter1.0 supplied in the CD and AVIConverter2.1 supplied in this site both works. But i found out that if the source video is not MPG, eg(ASF), it will encode it properly but the playback on the player has distorted sound. Any ideas about this?

4] According to the manual, I can record live FM broadcasts, but I cant! I go to FM mode, then press and hold the A button as described in the manual, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

5] It has expandable memory, but it didnt specify what kind. Is it MMC or SD or miniSD?

I am really happy with this player. I managed to hook it up on my stereo component and its awesome!

Thanks again and have a merry christmas! :)

ryanrudolf, Not having used a Rockchip player I can't comment on most of your questions but regarding the s1fwx tool, it only works on ACTION chipset players. I do not think there are any tools for firmware backup on rockchip players yet.

thanks for the reply. probably this is just a new player and the community doesnt have enough info yet. but still i am happy as it is superior to the "nano" look alikes feature-by-feature. hehehehe.

1/ i cant find any software like this for rockchip
2/ i cant get ID3 to work, maybe you must try other combinations like artist and song name only [i didnt tested it ]

3/ try XILISOFT MP4 CONVERTER 3 settings => http://img409.imageshack.us/my.php?image=12sw6.jpg (also attached below)

4/ in my rockchip i must press PLAY button while listenning to radio to record, just find record button maybe "OK" in your model

5/dont know i dont have memory slot ; ]

Wilson

Thanx for the info on the Xilisoft converter. I had been searching everywhere for one that would have the options it has in order to get conversions that will work with these rockchip players. You can set the fps to 24 and the audio bitrate to 128 and it will work just fine for most video.
I still have a problem with audio sync when converting mpg's. Other than that this is a really awesome tool for use with rockchip players!

Re: rockchip mp4 player -- questions!

after some fiddling, i managed to make the videos work. i followed the virtual dub guide posted in the forum, except that i changed the resolution to 224x176. for ASF, WMV and videocd formats, i used the virtualdub-mpeg version also posted on this site. after converting to avi, i then used AVConverter that came with the unit. I can see no difference between the High Quality and Normal Quality settings, except that the High Quality results in a bigger file. As an end result, i chose Normal Quality and it plays perfectly on my rockchip mp4 player. Hope that helps. :)

I am still reseatching about ID3 tags....

just a follow-up, the unit also supports MMC, SD, miniSD and MMC Mobile! I already expanded the memory by plugging in a 1GB MMC Mobile card! :)

WOW! A 4GB player! thats nice! Fortunately, I figured out the ID3 tag issue. The player only supports ID3v1, and it only displays the Artist and Album. But I managed a little workaround! I created a .LRC file with the following contents:
