Best music site?

Ok so I have spent a bit of money on ITUNES before getting an IPOD and of course the only thing I can put my ITUNES music on is my SLVR and on disc...

Were do you all get your mp3 downloads from that is modest in pricing (both music and vids)...

Also is there any way to convert the ITUNES music into another player (and unlock the dang songs)

So I get excited then realize My version of itunes will not allow me to do this so I then found a site that says to copy all songs to cd in mp3 mode then I can play and transfer all songs to media player...

Am I totally wasting my time or is this plausable?

iTunes can do some nasty things to converted files and make life difficult for when you want to transport across to other players.

Try to stay away from iTunes.
There are other freeware tools available which lets you convert your cd's to MP3 songs.

I know how nasty itunes can be after the fact I did not get an ipod (except on my phone)... I was using my windows media player to put music on my mp3 but I do not want to go and buy more CD's and convert them to mp3. I want to convert the itunes to MP3 then banish itunes from my computer and find another download site for music and movies but there are so many out there I don't want to waste my money on one that does not deliver...
