I'm looking to purchase a 2gb MP4 player

I'm new to the forums, and am appalled that some of these bastards on ebay sell fraudulent products. I ALMOSt bought one this morning, but after thinking about it, it may not be such a good idea. Where you guys buy yours from? I came across this auction on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-nano-Mp3-video-player-iPod-case-1-8-LCD-2-GB-USA_W0QQitemZ200063305511QQihZ010QQcategoryZ73839Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The seller even has a personal guarantee and a link to this site (it's how I found out about this site). Does this seller look legit?

popupstoppa,

The seller does look like a decent seller to mention the "gigabyte" and "gigaBIT" as well as issues with hacked players which is a good start. A lot of the sellers don't even say it.

However, I've noticed there is very little feedback for the seller though so that might be something worth being wary about.

If you are interested, ask the hard questions.
"What if I find the memory has been hacked?"
"Will you refund the money and shipping charges as well?"
"Where are you located?"
etc.....

Just make sure you don't get stuck with a dud. A 'low' feedback rating might also mean that the seller has started a new eBay account altogether to hide the fact that he might have sold too many hacked players in the past? I'm only making assumptions here that's all.

His low feedback number also threw me off a bit. I just asked him a question concerning the headphone size and he said taht it is 2.5mm and even mentioned his name. I shall ask him all the other questions that you suggested. Where did you buy your video player from (if you have one, that is)?

popupstoppa,

I too am in the US, I got my daughter a player from this seller on Ebay:
http://stores.ebay.com/Brohauns
It arrived in 4 days, and had no memory hack. If you notice this seller only sells 1&2GB players. Plus he has good feedback, and the package was well packed.

The guy selling it seems legit. I asked him this:

"About your personal guarantee...if the item does end up being hacked, will I get a refund?"

His response was:

"In regards to your question. If it does end up being hacked, I will give you a full refund immediately.

You would certainly have to contact me first though. If it is hacked, you won't find out unless you format it(method found on www.mympxplayer.com) or if you get a file error after you have loaded it past the true memory point. So in that case, as soon as you find out(which could be a while), let me know and you will get a full refund. To tell you the truth though, I have had no such problems ever so I know you won't have any problems of that nature and you need not worry! My guarantee is rock solid, and you can bid with certainty that it is not hacked! Good Luck and have a Happy New Year!

Best Regards,

Daniel Gladstone "

I think I may just buy from this guy.

I just also found out that he's been a member since 2004, and it's just a bit odd that his feedback number is so low. Regardless, I think his guarantee is an honest one.

Popup

You can buy from a sponsor of this site or a member such as myself and not have a fear of being ripped off. I have 5 1.5" 2GB players 3 White and 2 Black with 9.0.50fw for $50 each free ship. (US only buyers.) PM me if interested.

I've already bought the player from the guy, and now I guess I just wait to see if it is indeed 2 GB. He is offering a full refund if it is indeed not as he advertised, so I think my rear end is quite covered.

Fake in what sense? In the sense that it isn't a real iPod? I think most people know that, so that isn't an issue. If you think that play_mega's wares are "fake" because the flash is less than advertized, than that's another issue. Just because he uses the same pic as in the nano knockoff guide only means he isn't using a real pic of the player.

If he is selling bogus players (in terms of less flash mem than advertized), I would like to have it confirmed. Reason being, I emailed the seller to see if he'll put a link to my guide in his ad (since mymxplayer link is there!). And he agreed and I agreed to put his name in my guide. As such, I created a whitelist in my guide and currently, his is the only name there! He certainly comes across as legit and sincere in his ads and emails. For him to be selling hacked players and yet guarantee they are not in his ad (perhaps the only seller on ebay who does), that would take a King Kong set of balls....

Re: I'm looking to purchase a 2gb MP4 player

The guy gave me a full refund...apparently his supplier scammed him and all of the 2 GB units he had were 1 GB. He seems like a legit seller. Here's what he wrote:

"Greetings,

I regret to inform you that I unfortunately was scammed by my supplier and
all the units I have recieved are only 1 gigabyte units. As a result, and
because of my guarantee in the listing, I refuse to pass this loss on to
my customers as other more dubious sellers may have tried to. Essentially,
each unit has been altered to read as though it has 2 Gigabytes of memory,
because it is my practice to always test the items before I sell them, I
formatted 3 of the units I just recieved and they are all 1 Gigabyte after
formatting. I am unsure what I am going to do about the supplier, but for
my customers there is only one thing I can do. You will all recieve refunds
immediately. I again apologize that I have wasted all of your time and I
am very sorry. I hope that you can see that I did not want the scam that
has affected me to affect you as well. I stand by my word and I will never
knowingly defraud any of my customers in anyway, that is why I had to tell
you all, and why I must refund you all. The only thing I ask from all of
you, is to please avoid giving me negative feedback, and to read the "mutual
agreement to not pay" message you are going to recieve from ebay for this
order and accept it. This will allow all of you to get out of having to pay
for the unit as far as ebay sees it, and will also allow me to get my money
back for the ebay fees paid on each unit that was sold. Thank you all soo
much for understanding, and I am very sorry once again, for wasting your
time. If you have any concerns or issues whatsoever please feel free to contact
me at any time."

Best Regards,

Daniel S. Gladstone

This guy seems really honest, and I'm glad that he didn't scam me. Are any of you by any chance selling any 2 GBs?
