Re: What's your favorite music and video download site?

you people are all wrong, havent you herd of usenet ???
why would you wait countless hours to download a dvd when you can get unlimited downloads of about anything you can think of with a usenet account. check out www.newsdemon.com for a low cost news server.
personaly i use giganews. I have a cable modem, like most of you do these days. when i download songs, i have a constant download rate of 1.2MB per second thats one song every 3 or 4 seconds, you have a choice of millions of songs, in tons of languages and when you hit GO, there is no waiting, no losing download because someone went off line, no hassels what so ever. i get one DVD in less than 4000 seconds, one divx movie in about 800 seconds and any software i can think of. newsdemon is like 15 dollars a month and holds files for 70 days. this is called server retension. giganews has a 90 day retension. have you ever downloaded something only to find out some files are corrupt. people on newsgroups post Par files with there stuff, and a par file repairs corrupted files AND if you are missing a few files to complete your download...no sweat, par files can make the missing files for you . do yourself a favor and stay away from the P2P sites, once you get used to newsgroups you will look down on the P2P programs. one last thing, if you want something and dont see it in the newsgroups, just ask and usually in 24 hours you will see a reply with your movie, game. song ect waiting for you. its a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it......pure bliss
oh yea, research NZB files they are wonderful things and checkout this site to get an idea of whats out there www.binsearch.info if a movies a week old you can probably download it there...also check out www.vcdquality.com to see if the quality is worth wasting time downloading..... your on your own when it comes to converting it, but any software you may need is gonna be there on the newsgroups to get the job done. and BTW the news servers scan the files for viruses ... any questions PM me and i will help you best i can.... get newsrover or newsbin for your newsreader....LEAVE THE P2P ALONE, trust me i am here to help. There is only 1 true definition of a friend... a friend never leads you into danger

Re: What's your favorite music and video download site?

ok let me help you out a little bit more. All of you who have an ISP account ( and i have found this to be true of my family and friends in europe ) already have a usenet account. You get it free from your ISP (internet service provider) . But if you dont ask them for the info you need to log on and start downloading then you will never even hear about it. Now most of the ISP provided usenet access only has limited retension, for instance, when I had verizon DSL i had a 7 day retension, this wasnt too bad for free. But when I moved over to Roadrunner cable internet, their rentension was only 24 hours...that sucked. To give you an idea what this means, lets say I want to get some mp3s.
I open up my newsbin and goto alt.binaries.music.mp3.1980s. If I logged in with my verizon usenet account it would tell me there was 10,000 files.
If I logged into the same group with my roadrunner account, it would say there are 2000 files. But when i log in with my giganews account it tells me ( and this is NOT an exageration ) 55 MILLION files. Now there are probably 20 worthwhile mp3 binary groups in usenet each holding millions of files. Again there are about 20 DVD groups each holding millions and millions of files ( when you log into it for the first time and retrieve the list of headers, it can take 4 hours just to get the list of things available, luckily you need only do this once, and then update list as time passes )
I live in america, but my 3yo isnt so good in speaking english, so being the #1 dad that i am, i want her to have cartoons she can get into. So I goto alt.binaries.divx.bajki, and there i will find cartoons in Polish language. So she gets a great collection of films to watch ( and i get a few minutes of peace and quiet ). My wife goes to alt.binaries.dvd.pl and gets tv shows and movies from Poland and again..I get few minutes of peace and quiet. and me.....well I goto all of them and get whatever my little heart desires. I have over 100 playstation2 games. I have upwards of 700 dvd's , God knows how many divx/xvid movies ( i lost count and after some time started getting very picky about movies i download, if the video and audio quality are not good quality then i dont bother anymore ( unless it just came out at the theater...in that case i will watch it anyways). I have a spindle full of mp3 dvds, i would hate to think of how many are there, but at 1 song every 3 seconds you can imagine.
Anyways, goto your ISP webpage or call them on the phone and get your newsgroup server address, and make sure you know your username and password. Get a demo version of newsbin ( google it ) then let me know when your ready. I will show you a world you never knew exsisted
until next time...ronnieray

You thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Usenet is really good, had newsgroups with my old provider, but the new one hasn't. Used Grabit, later newsbin for that. So back to the torrents, but what I like I buy, music that is. Videos downloaded are mostly documentories from around the world. Torrentspy.com, isohunt.com, mininova.org. Utorrent is the program I use, dumped Azureus as it hogs my system.

IRC for MP3's (complete albums) and IRC as well for DVD movies. lightning fast speeds, and no cap on how much you can download (like some isps do to their usnet mirror) I wouldnt use anything but irc.

Torrents for new movies and music(OiNK) with uTorrent. MP3s from: Soulseek, WinMX, Ares, eMule and DC++.

Movies from: eMule, Ares and DC++.

Rare movies/music from: eMule.

if you are using limewire, you must absoluetly use virus protection software. limewire is the worst for trojans and for virus's.

google "limewire virus" without the quotes. i stopped using limewire because my virus protection software caught way to much.
