what does firmware do for you? does it make ur mp3/mp4 go faster? i have a 4gig and i was wondering what the heck firmware does for ur thingy? thanks alot!

EWStrobel, the firmware is the operating system of your player, like Windows is to your PC.
It is best not to try changing firmware as it is the easiest way to kill your player.
You should also check out the posts on hacked players because these players will only support a maximum of 2GB memory. 4GB and 8GB players are fakes with hacked memory chips that read larger than their true size.
