Hopefully this petition would get noticed by ebay, paypal and the related governmental authorities.

Wanted to sign the petition, but i did not really get scammed into buying my old player. So for those who got scammed, i would like to urge you guys to take a minute and sign the petition and pass on the petition link to those that you know, or to other communities.

up!

tadad1 8th Jan 2007 6:55 am

Que, thanks for the bump :D

lddrizzt1 8th Jan 2007 8:48 am

Let's hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.
Ebay is not a company that will weed out the bad vendors.
They will blanket remove all the non branded mp3/4 players. Good vendors or bad.
And within a week they will all be back up and running.

Great idea. I almost wish I had been scammed with my eBay mp4 purchase, so that I could sign the petition. I'm looking to purchase a couple more players off eBay soon, so maybe I'll have the chance to join the fight yet?

amnman 8th Jan 2007 1:51 pm

Signed the petition.

You should find a way to send that petition to all US congressmen/women and US Senators.

Justice department and Federal Trade Commission would be another possibility.

Let's get this filled people... 13 sigs aren't enough

tadad1 8th Jan 2007 3:39 pm

amnman,
Once it starts getting a bit of meat on it's bones I believe it will becomes a compelling visual record of the sheer number of people that are being scammed through the eBay system.

Definately a lot harder to ignore than individual complaints and disputes.

The bigger the pile of dirt the harder it is to sweep under the rug.

tadad1 10th Jan 2007 1:57 pm

impeeza, Are you saying that you have paid for the players twice because the boxes arrived empty and now he wants you to pay more to ship missing parts?

admin 11th Jan 2007 12:21 am

impeeza

What's the seller's name and link to the auction? I think we need to put this person in the blacklist.

I would be intersted in reading this feedback. I bet he's conning you out of your money.

Dear friends,

I just received a 4Gb MP4 from ebritain on ebay. Do you think I have been frauded.

May be you can help me as when I try to play an MP3 file it says format error even though I never formatted the MP4.
Do you think I should do a firmware installation?

aaaabbbb,
You should read the guide to remove the memory hack that is most likely on your player.
The guide is here: Guide

Hi
new member to the site but have been watching and reading for a while.
i have signed the petition as i to was scammed by EBay and buy_lowest.

i am lucky though as i only paid £19,49 ($40) dollars for my player so the money issue was not the problem. it just made my blood boil about the whole thing.

of course i complained to EBay (no response!!) and raised a claim with paypal.
my good news is that i WON!! wohooo!!!
Yes paypal found in my favor of me so does this mean that they now accept that there is a scam/problem on ebay with these players.

i intend to still converse with ebay and paypal and ask why they found in my favor.
just because i won does not mean i will stop my fight against these sellers and ebay and paypal.
i will not withdraw my feedback either and will continue to inform as many people as i can who are bidding on these players, with a hope that word will spread.
i have also tried to get the BBC TV program 'watchdog' involved, this is a consumer rights tv show on the UK biggest TV channel - will keep you posted as to how that goes
many thanks for this site
keep up the good work

i bought mp4/mp3/fm/rec/photo/ebook player from e-bay, but the problem is
it is of 8gb flash, when i try to copy more then 2 gb on player it show as if it copyed all file but as soon as i disconected the player and run it does not show and files copied so i formated and try to upgrade the firmware but size of player is 1.8 gb fat32 .

i want to know, am i cheated by from who sale this player on e-bay .

lattesurf 24th Jan 2007 12:53 am

popat007 , you are most definitely scammed. Your player is only a 2GB chip hacked to show 8GB. The problem of the files not showing or having errors are signs that the chip was hacked.

Do not update the firmware, you'll most defintely kill the player.

I'll suggest you contact your seller and either get a partial refund or full refund. And as well sign the petition http://www.petitiononline.com/eBay666/petition.html

Re: PETITION "Stop this Multi-Million Dollar Fraud on e

lattesurf i alredy did formating and try to update firmware, when i ran extract.bat from s1fwx_v26_mympxplayer_org.rar file and did all otrer to recover drive and it was 2gb fat  and then i upgraded the firmware
and it shows it is updated successful but it does not show log in to the box.
now when i disconnected my player from usb and try to on it it does not show any thing. as it shows on my computer as usb mass storage.

please help me to come out of my prob. i want to make my player run.

Thanks in advance

lattesurf 24th Jan 2007 7:45 am

popat007 , oh no. Do you still remember your player's old working version number? If not, i'll suggest opening your player and identify the processor's serial number (eg ATJ2085, ATJ2091, etc).

With this, it would be easier to locate a possible firmware for your player.

popat007 24th Jan 2007 8:34 am

Re: PETITION "Stop this Multi-Million Dollar Fraud on e

it is ATJ2085 on processor, now what should i do
pls. help me

lattesurf 24th Jan 2007 8:51 am

popat007 , you have a better chance of recover since your player is using an older chipset. Depending on your screen size, you need to try all the available firmwares in the downloads section.

For 1.5" screen, try the list here http://www.mympxplayer.org/medium-co...reen-dc15.html

For 1.8", try these http://www.mympxplayer.org/large-col...reen-dc16.html

There is no way of telling you which firmware will work with your player. You need to try every single one by one.

popat007 24th Jan 2007 3:00 pm

Re: PETITION "Stop this Multi-Million Dollar Fraud on e

lattesurf one question what i have to do is try to upgrade different
firmware with upgrade firmware utility :?

lattesurf 24th Jan 2007 8:58 pm

popat007 , yes. You need to try one firmware after another.

Liquidation.con is a source for many ebay sellers that sell hacked mp4 players. They have a Number on thier site. If you call be nice to them, they do not have control over sellers of bulk lots

Refund from Paypal finally received. Still owed the money spent on returning the item to Hong Kong. Lesson learned I suppose.

Sign up and stop the fraud!

tadad1 29th Jan 2007 5:33 pm

aaaabbbb, If you bought a 4GB player from e-britain then yes it is definatly a hacked player. You need to use 'lattesurfs' guide to remove the hack and you should have no more format problems.

potterfan6 3rd Feb 2007 5:12 pm

Hopefully ebay would notice the fraud sellers who sell people hacked mpx players by looking at this petition.

heha 12th Feb 2007 9:23 pm

wow thats a pretty long list of sellers

i got mines from him.

Re: PETITION "Stop this Multi-Million Dollar Fraud on e

iam soooo furious ...
baught an mp4 player from oem_seller ebay ,
recieved it did the run thing on my computer as it said on here said 4gb,,,
added a few things went to bed to play my songs , and kept getting disk error trying to do things .
sooo downstairs i came to plug it in to my computer to be told it needs formatting ... pressed ok formatted ok went to check size again now to be told only 1.90 gb !!!
i have obviously sighned the petition on here now and gone to paypal for part refund . But iam soo mad at been conned

gem_sweet_ass 16th Feb 2007 2:48 am

i recieved a 5 pound refund today ...
after emailing them several times and putting in a paypal dispute ,
doesnt sound alot but only paid 29 pound so i think i genuinly have paid for a 2gb player now instead of a hacked one .
i have allso been searching the net and found out on unnamed players u CANNOT get a 4gb memory .
So i should imagine there will be thousands of complaints still to come in the future .
if only ebay would do something about this problem to protect there buyers !!!

Hotboxx 16th Feb 2007 5:34 am

gem_sweet_ass: never forget, Ebay and PayPal don't protect their buyers, they only protect their sellers. And there is a obvious reason to to that: Money!!! The buyers don't make money for Ebay, only the seller makes money for them. And the one who pays you, you need to protect him.

gem_sweet_ass 16th Feb 2007 12:10 pm

her here i agree ...
the shame is i actually sell things on ebay , so in a round about way they should protect me ,
i stood my ground today even after i recieved my partial refund i refused to withdraw my negative feedback why the hell should i !!

xenrayven 20th Feb 2007 8:26 pm

ADD world.seller to your list! I bought a player, less then a week old now it FRIED, I NEVER got music to play, used your method and my 4 gig is really 1 gig!
