Virus / Spyware on MP4 player?

Apart from the usual video & audio files that come with these players, I noticed some unusal files on my new 1st gen Nano clone (v9.0.50). They are:

host.exe
copy.exe
autorun.inf

(Autorun.inf is:
[autorun]
Shellexecute=copy.exe)

Now can anyone tell me why these files would be on here? When I ran copy.exe, my firewall logged it trying to access the net! Plus, it created two child processes in memory, temp1.exe and temp2.exe. Deleting these files and reformatting the player did not affect the player's functions far as I can tell, so it certainly doesn't need to be on the player's flash drive.

You've got the win32.Perlovga.A/B virus on your computer! It infects every removable drive connected to your pc with those files. Mp3 players, usb sticks, everything! Do you have an updated anti virus program?

UPDATE: I found it a little hard to believe that the virus files that I found on my new Nano clone were due to a virus on my system. For one thing, none of the other players I had connected to my system had those files. I just got the latest version of my anti-virus yesterday (Kaspersky), updated it, and it found no such trojan as described by Que. Therefore, the assumption has to be made that the trojan was probably on the manufacturer's computer! A word of warning to check your Nano clones for those suspicious files! (Or just format them straight away, as I do).

Re: Virus / Spyware on MP4 player?

I had a similar problem with virus/spyware on my nano clones, and posted a topic on these forums sometime last year.

They are indeed put on a time of manufacture, probably dillibeartly, and whilst doing general surfing on the net, it seems this is a problem that only affected nano clones.

I have no idea about laws, but surely that is illegal? Selling dogey goods?
