Default 9.0.48 full firmware???

ok so i downloaded 9.0.48 full firmware 1.5 lcd from this site. for some reason i tried opening it in s1res and couldn't believe it. i checked to see if it was 9.0.43 but it wasn't !
the question is............is this 9.0.48 firmware safe for my mp4 player? it natively runs .48 firmware and i never updated. so.............can i put it on my player without killing it?

pmilladcs,
All the full versions can be themed. The problem is not with the theming tool but with the extraction tool. The FWIMAGE.FW file with in the firmware can not be read by s1fwx and therefore is incomplete after extraction and can not be repaired. I would not recommened trying to load the other 9.0.48 to your player there is a high probability you will brick it.

pmilladcs, The full version firmware is not the same as an extracted dump file. The full versions are factrory versions that are used to install the firmware on a player the very first time. They contain files that scan the players hardware configuration and prepare the memory by creating a locked partition where the firmware will reside. The ones we have in the download section have come from mini CD's and manufacturers which is why there are not many because they are very hard to find, most manufacturers do not want other makers using their firmware.
The reason that you can not extract a full firmware is because not all of the files are copied to the player just the ones needed to run the player.
This is why when you short the memory chip of a dead player it is like a factory reset and you need a full version to reinstall.
