as far as i know, you can play avi files on them directly rather than first converting them to amv

somebody on this site told me that rockchip players operate faster than nano clones

pmilladcs , rockchip is just another brand name.

However, it uses an additional audio processor, so that you can "multitask" while still listening to the music.

And it's because of the dual processor, that the main processor gets freed up more power to do other things. So probably that's why the player seems to operate faster than nano-clones.

do you know where i can purchase a rockchip player? and would you recomend one?

lattesurf 30th Jan 2007 8:56 pm

pmilladcs , i'm not sure of where to get a rockchip player, perhaps others could help you out on this. But i've seen a couple of posts of rockchip players bought from ebay.

In terms of reliability and functionality against the nano-clones, the rockchip players are better.

But the thing about the rockchip firmwares, i don't quite like. You can't do anything to the firmware. So if your player is dead, you are typically left with an expensive paper weight.

Price-wise, the rockchip players are slightly more than the nano-clones, but worth all the extra dollars.
