upload does not change anything
 

I have a 2GB "Ipod" Silver metal back and black plastic front 1.8" screen

F/W SRX_3.5.37 I have Dumped and repaired the F/W


With a COPY of the original firmware i changed the opening, hibernate, and ending sequence of my ChiPod

I have then saved it (overwriting the COPY) then i loaded it with the firware update Tool Ver. 4.09

it completed Successfully as read on the update tools status window

and the ChiPod rebooted then i unpluged it after "safely" removing it

but when i powered it back on...

There was No change EXCEPT for the chinese and the split format
which i already fixed

Ace_of_Ages, Can you upload the dump to www.uploaded.to and leave a link so I can have a squizz. My initial thought is that some firmware can have double ups of things like startup and menu images. Sometimes when a firmware is updated or modified by the manufacturers new images can be introduced and the coding changed but more oftern than not the old images are left behind. Sloppy programming really. Most firmware will even contain game images for games that are not even included or activated on the player. And sometimes secondary images can exist for different language settings. The long and the short of it you may have updated images that are not used.
Try also loading the firmware again with an earlier version of the update tool say 3.68 or 4.0. My understanding from the illegible Google Chinese translation is that the update tool in 4.09 was updated slightly for the newer chipsets and newer version firmware.

ok well i did 2 things differently

I got new Update software 3.65

and i did not press the ok button when it said it was complete

before when i would hit ok the chipod would immediatly reboot

this time it froze for a minute and then it rebooted with the new start up theme
