Glacier:

Cons:
*Doesn't make use of big screen well for videos; videos lag and stutter and are not enjoyable to watch, which is disappointing because I mainly bought this player to watch videos on. (why would I need a 2 inch player just to listen to music?). Also, when recording from radio, there is constant static and clicking which makes the feature barely usable.

* Radio works only on headphones
* No firmware avaiable

Osmium:
Heard nothing bad about it yet.

I enjoyed the idea of having a nokia battery and it also use 3.5mm phones.

Glacier: lag and stutter are (almost) avoidable by using proper settings for encoding. The interference on the radio seems not to come standard, might be a bad batch. FM radio needs a proper antenna for stereo reception, the cable of the headphones is the antenna, so it is needed attached to receive stations. A setting to override the headphones when using radio and put the output to speaker, would be nice, but probably needs some hardware change too, hence costs = more expensive player.

I don't understand why it can output music to the speaker but not the radio. It would make more sense to output the radio, as then it becomes a transistor radio, a la old school. I second that lag & stutter is an artifact of not using proper settings. Actually, I have some widescreen Pixart shorts that look and sound perfect on the Glacier. The problem is, I have never been able to use the full 2" screen of the Glacier, because full screen video always results in lag or stutter.

Because it has no internal antenna, that's the headphone cable. I don't remember (still haven't got my Glaciers back) if the player is put to speaker for mp3's by a setting, I did by removing the headphones. If there is a setting, then it could be implemented for the radio too, like on my phone siemens sx1. Firmware? Is the screen actually full 2.0"? I have some combo meter but it showed 1.8", for the part lighting up?

Que is right, the headphones cord is the antenna, but not because of the hadphones, but for the cable, so the easiest solution is to get an external speaker system (a 2.1ch computer system is more than enough) that will let you to listen your mp3's as well as the radio stations without any problem at all.

Now, I have a player with 2.5mm jack,so what I do was to buy a generic hands-free set for cell phone that has a 2.5mm stereo jack and also a common 3.5mm jack, and I made my own 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter

chiclete - I was the one who wrote the "lag and stutter" con on UXCELL's site. I realize that it's avoidable, but in order for that to happen you have to lower the dimensions, which sort of defeats the purpose of using the full 2" capability of the screen. That's all. Anyway, good decision about the Osmium... it seems like a good player from the reviews. However, I seem to remember a few complaints from awhile back that UXCELL had accidentally switched the memory of the osmium with the 256MB rhodium, so people had gotten 256MB instead of the 2GB they paid for. Hopefully UXCELL's corrected this by now.

Thanks for that review... That was the main reason I decided not to buy it... Because for that price, I could buy a MP3/MP4 with a higher memory and not a 2" screen... However I really want to play movies on my MP4...
DO you have any idea of how much time could I watch a video in full charge?

About the memory problem, I read about it, however all I read were refunded or got a new MP4, so, I believe in uxcell... :D

And I bought the 1GB, was it happening on 1GB also?
